Probably going over old ground here but... no. Maidana's a beast at 140, looked bloated and slow at 147, I dread to think how bad he'd look at 154. It bugs me that some of you are rooting for it, possibly Canelo fans looking for some sort of scalp. Well it wouldn't be a scalp, it would be a JMW fighting a JWW, with an entirely predictable outcome.
Marcos, please get this fight with Thurnham out of the way, then come back down to 140 where you belong, and where you can have a long and fruitful career. WAR Maidana!

Big Maidana fan but I don't think its a smart idea unless he is just looking for the payday. His power didn't seem to go up with him at 147 and that is really all he has going for him. Well, that and his fighting spirit. I can't see it being any different at 154. His punches will just bounce off Canelo in my opinion. I could be wrong of course. Maybe the only reason he looked to terrible against Alexander was because he wasn't able to adapt to fighting a southpaw. In my opinion a fight against Canelo is bad for Maidana's health. The amount of heavy punches he will surely take combined with his never give up attitude could drastically shorten his career.Comment
