Alvarez to fight either Austin Trout or Carlos Quintana

    http://espn.go.com/boxing/story/_/id...t-15-stalemate

According to Dan Rafael, had Ortiz lost (which he did), Golden Boy said that Alvarez would most likely end up fighting Austin Trout or Carlos Quintana.

I wouldn't mind Austin Trout because he is good, but damn that's not going to be a very exciting fight, and it better be on regular showtime. And though Carlos Quintana, after giving a good account of himself beating Latimore, is pretty decent fight, it's not something I'd be dying to watch.

I know they are never going to give Erislandy Lara his shot, so I've given up on that. But I don't see why they wouldn't just push the date back and fight James Kirkland. He's fan friendly, one of the Top SWW, has wins over Julio and Angulo, and will be ready to go in October.

Alvarez vs. Trout is a good fight, but not anything that should be on PPV at all. It better be on regular Showtime.

Alvarez vs. Quintana is an alright fight, but I'd much rather see Quintana fight someone like Gabriel Rosado, and Alvarez fight either Kirkland in October or Trout.

yah i'd much rather see canelo fight kikrland in october or november rather than him fighting trout and quintana...can't see why they can't push back to october if it means giving the fight fans a really good fight to look forward to.

I agree they wont give Lara the fight, if you think about it, lara is a very dangerous fight, and can box with Canelo, and even if Canelo pulls off the win he wont do it in a flashy fashion, it's almost a can't win situation

I think they should pull back the Kirkland fight to november, it's the fight that makes most sense

golden boy really needs to just forget the idea of fighting on Sept 15th. How many opponents do they have to go through?

Fight Kirkland in Oct/Nov, problem solved.

They wont put canelo in there with Lara.

Molina is a spoiler, trout is boring and quintana wont sell.

Only option is Kirkland at a later date, imo.

                What's wrong with you guys??

The fact is realistically there are only 3 fights ginger can make at 154 that's ppv worthy. Floyd, Cotto & Martinez that's it.

But Trout is a damn unification fight. Easily the best fighter ginger will have faced in his entire 50 fight career. I'll be happy to bet anyone Trout eats ginger alive.
