if you have your mouth open and get caught, there is about a 80% chance your jaw is gonna get broken. some breaks are worse than others. I have had a broken jaw before just from sparring for fucks sakes, and yes I continued sparring regardless. no this is not made up and i dont care who believes it or not, but the point is LOTS of fighters fight with broken jaws, broken ribs, broken hands, whatever. you dont hear about it cause they dont mention it so they have an out

and after seeing ortiz fully talking and laughing and smiling, Im gonna go with his jaw was broken, but not debilitating to where he couldnt continue for 3 more rounds if really wanted to. he just didnt wanna continue any longer and had an easy out. ortiz has too little of a heart for boxing, plain and simple...

canelos expression describes what I think of ortiz perfectly

Does tonight bring up Vargas' stock?
If Vargas want's to step up to 147 and face the champ there's no dought in my mind that Lopez wouldn't accept the challenge. I say Lopez take's his heart in a 6 round war.

You people are unreal. Ortiz is my 2nd favorite fighter. I think he's an idiot for leaving his mouth open, but keep fighting?? Really? It's not humane for his corner to let him go out there. He get's paid but the safety of the fighters is the most important thing. So don't give me crap he gets paid for it, he's still a human.

I had thought that Ortiz might have had trouble with Lopez because Lopez is a tall aggressive fighter, and we haven't seen Ortiz fight anyone like that of late, if ever... he was preparing for a short fighter in Berto an i think it showed... Too bad Ortiz and his team didn't opt for a 10 rounder, I doubt anybody would have faulted him for it after all that happened.. then he probably could have continued even with the jaw, knowing it was a 12 rounder and only in rd 9 Ortiz knew he was done...

wrong. his corner wanted him to go out there because they knew it was a break that he could push thru for 3 more rounds. ortiz is the one who wanted quit cause he thought it would be OK, his corner wanted him to fight cause they knew his break was not debilitating. not human for making a fighter fight injured? gtfo. he didnt have a problem explaining himself and laughing and smiling and closing mouth (which he said he couldnt) after they stopped it. yea his jaw was broke, yea it hurts like hell, you still dont quit going into the 10th, sorry. anyone who says otherwise has never stepped inside a ring. its insulting to agree with what he did...

Exactly like the rest of us. Ortiz shouldn't be in the ring with top notch fighter's that are willing to die to win. He should be posting on these boxing website's as a fan like normal human being's like ourselves.

Good stuff. Chavez is scheduled to face Sergio Martinez possibly the best opponent he CAN face but you are right about Canelo. He is avoiding Lara Trout and Molina like the plague. Just fight Cotto already as well.

I'm not an Ortiz fan, but those of you who think Ortiz quit are *******s. Stop measuring him against other fighters who finished with broken jaws. Unless you've fought with a broken jaw, stfu.

Agree Completely! This is the sport, you put your life, or health on the line when ever you step in the ring. Ortiz does not respect that, why the hell would I respect him. As another fighter and hearing this Again; I have no respect for Ortiz.
