  • Comments Thread For: Lederman Discusses Pacquiao-Bradley, Judging Issues

Bob Arum is 80, but the famously opinionated promoter made it clear in the wake of the Manny Pacquiao-Timothy Bradley debacle that some judges simply are too old to continue scoring fights.

Duane Ford, 74, and Jerry Roth, 71, were the targets of Arum’s acerbic post-fight rant because Ford scored Bradley a 115-113 winner and Roth credited Pacquiao with just a 115-113 victory in a fight an overwhelming majority of fans and media thought Pacquiao won convincingly. Well I reckon Bob Arum is to old to be judging who won the fight so he might as well keep his mouth shut about who he thought won.

This has nothing to do with the judges. It has to do with Arum single handedly trying to make an attraction out of Bradley. He knew Pac would beat Bradley up, so he got the judges to give it to Bradley. Win-win situation for Arum.

Think about where Bradley would be if the decision went to Pac...back at the drawing board so to speak. He isn't where he is now because of the work he put in at 140 before signing with Top Rank.

It's statistically improbable that over 90% of the world thinks Pac won the fight; and that of the less than 10% who think Bradley won, two of them were official judges?

It doesn't matter if Bob Arum throws the judges under the bus either. There isn't much that can be done. A judge can say whatever the F he wants as to why he thought a certain fighter won the fight.

Lederman, Lampley, all the boxing people know that this is what goes on and this is how boxing works. $$ first, everything else is secondary.

I thoroughly wish everyone just let this thing go!! Again this was NOT on the level of a Williams vs Lara type of decision. This fight was not a blowout and more importantly...... Why in the world do people see this as a scam but you didn't see the scam coming a mile away!!!!!! You did not love Pac-man until Arum claimed Pac was better than Floyd, you did not care about Pac-man until he became connected to Floyd!!! He emerged as somebody who could PROBABLY beat Floyd, so it's safe to say he is the challenger no matter how much people hate to admit it, Floyd is king, Manny is threat to king.

So instead of falsley putting Pac over Floyd or even in the same boat as Floyd, you blind yourself to the whole picture. You need a champ and you need a threat to the champ. We should have been pressing Pac to take what Floyd was offering, IF he could somehow win then he is king now and he dictates how much he gets. Since we fell in love with Pac, we are having a hard time understanding that the SHOW is over. Tim was unified champ, great stamina, undefeated so it SHOULD have been very easy for people to see that they can juice a young Bradley for years so no need to let him lose to a Pac whose on his way out!!!
