My reaction was..."is that all?" Tarver is a big name fighter, I'm surprised that's all he made.

1 Mil is a lot for someone not active and on Show Time. There are not a lot of fighters on 1 mil a fight. I am guessing less than 30 make 1 mil pay days a fight.

Tarver is his own promoter, not to mention he works for the network (they probably wanted this fight, for whatever reason). How much did he get to fight Danny Green? $3 or 4 M, so why is it a big deal about a Million?

1000000 is a great purse nowadays. not many guys can demand a 8 digit payday...there are only a handful...most guys don't ever get a 7 digit purse

that's why roy jones, bj flores, tarver & a few others go to australia to fight danny green. he's a big draw there & it's usually a fat 6 or 7 digit paycheck when you fight him. certain fighters can draw well at home so many opponents want to go on the road & fight in their hometown. bute in quebec is one & lennox lewis seriously considered fighting joe mesi in buffalo because he could put 10000-15000 in the buffalo arena(forget the name). adamek does well in newark as does zab judah.

At one point I knew Tarver's Manager was Al Haymon. So he probably got a similar deal for him like he does most of his fighters like Mayweather etc.
