If Martinez can take Chavez's power, it shouldnt be a reason why he can't outbox him. Chavez get's reckless and he doesn't have a good defense. He can be hit. So all it takes is one time for him to fight someone with some punching power and a bit of boxing skills.

Chavez has the size,body punches,and pressure to beat Martinez.
Martinez has the speed,power, and footwork to make Chavez look slow..
I was very impressed at how Jr looked against lee, but it was a very small ring and lee looked way smaller than chavez. from what I understand, everything else but the ring is gonna be decided by Chavez..so Martinez might be able to keep Chavez at bay for 6-7 rounds in a larger ring and then start dropping that straight left and win by ko in the later rounds where I think Chavez will fade.it all depends if Martinez can keep away from Jr's bodywork...good fight

I know right. Watching the JCC JR. vs Andy Lee fight hurt my eyes. They looked like 2 of the slowest, and uncoordinated "main event"(bahahaha) fighters ive ever seen. My only concern and a valid one is if Martinez's age shows that night..I agree Lee isnt exactly a top fighter, so of course Chavez was supposed to look good. Chavez is a bigger fighter, but so have the previous fighters Martinez fought, at least physically. That body shot that Chavez throws is text book, so if Martinez can keep on moving it will look like the Macklin fight.

This is the straight reality of it too. Martinez is probably laughing right now, he is going to beat this guy like a pinata. The only way people last against Martinez is by playing a very defensive game. The way Chavez fights, he is going to lose the first 3 rounds as most Martinez opponents do anyway. But when he tries to push it, that's when he will start to take damage to the face in a bad way. When round 7 or 8 rolls around, he will be retreating and trying to outbox Sergio because he will likely have a broken nose and bewildered at how he was hurt by Sergio.

Those wide, up-close punches won't land like Jr thinks they will and he will soon realize that he is losing a distance battle with little ability to trap Martinez.
