If Cotto vs Marg II only did 600k how can this get 500k? Both were guys who had mainstream exposure thanks to Pacquiao and had a very interesting back story and they did 600k. Not trying to knock that number cause it's good but you can't tell me that this fight can compare to that one. I mean don't get me wrong it's a very good fight but seriously. These guys aren't known outside of hardcore fans. Mayweather and Pacquiao numbers have jaded people.

Canelo-Ortiz vs Chavez Jr-Martinez going up against each other is bad for boxing ratings. They need to be considerate about the fans who want to watch both fights.

The public know this isn't a competitive fight; the fight will end as long as Chavez allows it to. Going up against a 50/50 fight with a guaranteed knockout(Canelo-Ortiz) it's going to be tough to sell to the public. Get Chavez in there with a live opponent like Ward, not a C class fighter like Martinez.

Are the PPV's free where you live or do you boycott PPV in general? Arguing boxing needs to get off the PPV model is an argument for another day, so im just asking what non-Floyd/Pac fight u would pay for I guess.

Respectfully asking because I don't get it, a fight many have been waiting and calling for....and now that it actually might get made, real deal boxing fans are getting cold feet about buying..... it's bad news if even hardcore fans are not down on contributing money to fights we've been demanding (not saying u demanded it, but you've read the forums). It's exactly why they don't cater to boxing's real fan base.

I think simply admitting we're boxing fans actually confirms the latter part of your statement there.

GB went with Showtime for Canelo-Ortiz so they could get advertised and covered by CBS. Likewise if TR get a major network backing them they could get some decent numbers. 300k-450k max. If they're at the same time probably about 100k to 150k.

Remember Pac and Mayweather were getting ratings in the 2 to 3 million range before they went onto PPV. Rubio with Donaire on the under card managed 1.8 million, while Canelo's max has been 1.6 million. However since Canelo's last fight against Mosley I would say he could break 2 million viewers easily now, but they're throwing him straight onto PPV instead. Chavez Jr vs Lee might break 2 million viewers.

I think both of them could be set as PPV draws with the right marketing behind them. It's just a pity TR and GB are rushing them onto PPV so soon without building their viewer ship first. Canelo-Ortiz is a great fight but part of me feels it should be free.

                  tough sell

compounded by the fact that neither of them speak enough english at this stage to really connect with the fans
i'm not saying that's right or wrong, but it has a huge impact on the promotion of a fight

                  300K max

and they'll still make bank if it's 300k. keep the undercard costs low, dont go balls out the way you do in spending money to promote a pacquiao fight, and you've got plenty of room to make money off of the 300K buys at 50-60 a pop

200-250 PPVs, which is not bad at all.

However against Canelo vs Ortiz, itll be about 150, and im being generous with my numbers.

I dont know why people are expecting such high numbers.

350-400K would be a huge success.

On it's own day, without Canelo-Ortiz against it, I say it would do 300K easily. But with Canelo-Ortiz going against it as well, I think it'll do 200K.
