According to Mandera, Robert Tapia (the inspector) says, "I'm the boss here. I say whether or not we inspect the gloves and we're not going to." What kinda shady **** is that?

Poor Andy. This is probably the tip of an iceberg. Hometown edges..a slow, thick mat, small ring, loose ropes, all kinds of tricks. Freddy and Texas didn't invent this stuff, but it still sucks. As easy as it is to weigh gloves, Roach is right : if they don't have to do it then they shouldn't do it. It's psychological warfare, the opponent's team is trying to get an edge by making you do something you don't wanna do. The texas commission is shady but I don't expect Chavez team to actually bring lighter gloves or gloves that have been tampered with, the repercussions for getting caught would be devastating to his career.

Yes I have. I take it you underestimate the situation at hand. This is not just another regular fight anyone has. This is Julio Cesar Chavez JR we are talking about. He has been popped for Diuretics he has been easily given a championship belt by Jose Sulaiman and he has been given favorable decisions by judges. This man has his way in Boxing and has connects in the Boxing world. He works with Freddie Roach, his biggest name is accused of using PEDs. He worked with James Toney when he got busted. He works with Bob Arum the slimiest promoter in Boxing who God knows how much disgusting things he has done in the world of Boxing. Something as simple as wearing 8 oz gloves to a 10 oz glove fight can be the edge these guys are looking for. They weren't asking for Chavez to step on the scales again or for extra testing. Trust me when they asked to see if they can weigh their gloves it wasn't to get a physcologial edge on their opponents and it shouldn't have been taken as one. This isn't amateur Boxing or some dinky undercard fight with two unknowns that little things can be overlooked.

You forgot to mention Jcc jr isnt required to take post fight drug tests if they "forget". Or how Bob HAS been caught paying officials.. The gloves thing was just a show of class...which Roach lacks at times.

Also..really? To the other poster about the wraps and "punishment". Margarito was REWARDED for cheating. He got the biggest fights in his career post cheating AND being KOd. Sooo....I'm thinking it doesn't matter if he gets caught. He'd just fight in Mexico which would be even worse for his OP lol

I've never heard of fighters weighing their gloves before fights, the gloves have to pass commission inspections so I doubt there's anything wrong with them.
