Here we go again. Another coward who doesn't mention Rigondeaux. Rigo already beat this kid on the amateur. I don't get it...

why not rigondeaux ? you remember that he beat you in a pan nam games ? why not a rematch and an unification title bout with rigo ? you are scared too pf el chacal. rigo is the most feared boxer rigth now . it is a shame to see all this so called champs running from rigo.

I like Mares, he definitely has some skills and seems to be a humble guy, but I guess he is suffering the Nonito syndrome when it comes to mention Rigondeaux as a possible opponent.

-_- Mares aint afraid of Rigondeaux, look at the potential opponents that he did mention: Nonito Donaire, Toshiaki Nishioka, those fights are equally as difficult as a fight with Rigondeaux.

But just like he said in the interview: "I would like to fight everybody, but boxing is a business, and we have to fight the fights that make sense".

a Rigondeaux fight at this stage would be just plain ******. It's a high risk low reward type of fight, nobody knows who rigoneaux is besides the 'hardcore' boxing fanbase.

if mares is fighting for bussines , why did he fight at a catch weight of 120 for the 122 belt eric morel , who was not a top 10 rank , and was not a marketable guy ? mares took a vacant title , he wasnt either rank at the top 122. if he fought morel , why not rigo ? was morel a bussinnes sense or an easy fight ? again , these guy dont want to face rigo cause rigo is the best. when it comes to rigo , they all talk about sense , when they fight not rank fighters , sense makes nothing. look at donaire facing mattebula , does this fight makes bussines or is cause it is better not to face rigondeaux ?

It's NOT Mares fault that the WBC made the fight for the title, Abner just doing his job. Eric Morel was a stay-busy fight (yes I know it was a title fight, again, WBC's BS) you have to remember that Mares had just come off of a very competitive Bantamweight tournament on SHowtime. He fought Yohnny Perez, Vic Darchinyan, and Joseph Agbeko TWICE; these are all world class fights, he deserved to fight someone like Eric Morel, who incidentally is no pushover himself.

You can't put any blame on Mares for the WBC and their bull****, Rigondeaux is very talented but he's not in Mares best interest at this time, imo

yah that was pretty bs....same with pac vs margarito title fight and canelo alvarez vs hatton's brother title fight...all those fights were bs and no coincidence they were wbc title fights. i don't consider mares a legit 122 title holder like i don't consider pac or canelo legit title holders at 154lbs..

I don't understand why you say Mares is a coward. Look at the fighters he's fought in the last two - three years: Perez, Darchynian, and Agbeko x 2 (all of whom were rated in the top 5 at BW)... Also, if Rigondeaux did beat Mares in the amateurs, who cares? I mean how old was Mares when they fought? 18 years old? Think about it. Rigo is about 31 and Mares is about 25. That means that they fought when Rigo was about 25-26 and Mares was about 18-19. Clearly it was simply a matter of man vs boy!
