Comments Thread For: Ortiz Has No Interest in Berto Rematch, Only Mayweather

From the sound of it, Victor Ortiz has the rest of the year planned out as Golden Boy announced he will be fighting Saul “Canelo” Alvarez should he defeat Josesito Lopez on June 23rd. [Click Here To Read More]

What's Ortiz on about? He didn't put him to sleep on a first occasion...

Sure, he beat him, but FOTY candidates are always rematch worthy and Ortiz was moments from being stopped himself in that epic 6th round.

Man what'a wrong with this kid? He got smashed by Floyd and was hurt multiple times. No need for a rematch or unfinished business. I doubt Mayweather would even entertain a guy who openly admitted he was trying to break his nose in the fight. I'd rather watch Floyd fight Hatton again before Ortiz. For Ortiz to say he won't give Berto a rematch is garbage too. If it wasn't for Berto giving him a shot he wouldn't have gotten the Mayweather fight and would be as close to where he is today. It just shows his lack of class. With all his lies and exaggerations Ortiz tells I highly doubt the winner was guaranteed a Mayweather shot either. Nonetheless I don't see him beating Canelo so it will all be a moot point and he will be crawling back to Berto soon enough.

The way he dismisses a rematch with Berto, is probably the way Floyd feels about a rematch with Ortiz.

But the fact the rematch with Berto got called off twice, I can kinda see why Ortiz just can't be arsed with Berto anymore.

However if he loses to Canelo (assuming he gets past Lopez which he should) then a rematch with Berto could well be on the cards again (assuming Berto is still around in the sport).

I really dislike this idiot. 1st u quit on HBO. Then u go life and death with the jeff lacy of this era. Then you lie about koing him while stating how you were promised rematch in a noncompetetive bout. The same bout where your only answer to being dominated was to throw an obvious flying headbutt. Ortiz is garbage and a mental monkey.

I've fought people on steroids before(it was obvious because of the way they looked), they're not that tough. I've known tougher guys who never touched a pill or needle.

We are talking in waaaaay higher class... An average joe on roids. I've fought them too. A real contender on roids. While different story IMO
