    Epic war.

Nigel was no mere mortal that night. Technically, it was a round 1 knockout for Gerald but the fight went on and Nigel seemed to inherit the spirit of a lion.

The crowd was the greatest I have ever seen or heard.

Love both fighters, but those punches that benn threw to the back of the head with a lot of force were disgusting. Why don't referees impose sticter rules on punches to the back of the head? Some may say it was a brilliant performance by benn, I find it his most disgusting with those illegal blows.

You know? After reading that, I've concluded that I could be guilty of over using the word Warrior.

That Woman should be an inspiration to us all.

There were no more rabbit punches than your average fight with fighters that fight at close quarters and get into clinches. People highlight them more because of what happened.

Great fight & great fighters. Good luck to you & your family Gerald. I won't pass judgement, even as a dog lover.

He was a fierce puncher but if anyone in the world fell in love with his power, it was Gerald.

And why wouldn't he, because he was laying people out left and right.

Defense was an afterthought with him. He got hit a ton and not by guys who were throwing softballs to him. We're talking people like Julian Jackson.

The whole thing is a real tragedy but really shows the triumph of the human spirit when ordinary people are called to do extraordinary things to help their loved ones.

I saw the fight on Showtime when it happened back in '95. It was a bizarre ending to a great fight. On a another Showtime boxing card the commentators said he was out of the coma, and doing fine, but he would never fight again. I didn't find out until about a year ago that was blind and deaf from the fight. I recently watched this video on Youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LGz-unNi1dU about how he was doing. It's one of the saddest things I've ever seen.

To be honest I personally think that's what did for him. McClellan reacted badly to a Benn punch quite early on in the fight, it wasn't a huge shot at all. I think he was still suffering the after-effects of his previous fight with one of the hardest punchers of all time.

Tragic story. I don't judge him for the dog-fighting, he who is without sin...
