I don't think this situation played out the way Arum thought it would. I think he figured - which I can understand - Bradley would give a convincing enough performance that at least you could make some semblance of an argument for him deserving the win. That way, a rematch in November and a possible rubber match makes more sense.

I don't think he expected Pacquiao to dominate and for the entire public to agree and be outraged. That sort of explains his excitement for Bradley at the end of the fight, and then turning completely around and saying it was a ridiculous decision. He gambled on Bradley being better, and he wasn't.

If I'm right about this, it's possible a rematch won't occur. Although I think if it does, Arum will screw Bradley no matter what (although really, the idea of Bradley getting elite-level skills by November and Manny being completely shot by then are pretty much 0%). Even if Bradley were to fight his ass off and 'win', he wouldn't get the decision. The next person in line to get ****ed over by Arum is his experiment-gone-bad Timothy Bradley, and I think there's plenty of reason to believe that.

Interesting points. So if Pac leaves Top Rank, will he have a harder time trying to get a rematch or will he be required to use Top Rank to promote a rematch due to some clause in the contract or something?

Bob Arum, like a lot of smart businessman, is thinking about the long run. Sure he can make a lot of money off of Pacquiao for couple of fights. But Pacquiao is retiring soon. His last performances haven't been great. He's getting older. So Top Rank needs a new star. Top Rank is trying to build Timothy Bradley into that undefeated cash cow. And after the way he won on Saturday, he automatically became a villain. Bob Arum probably realized how much of an attraction an undefeated villain is from seeing Floyd Mayweather.

But I do think that Arum has a flaw. Timothy Bradley seems like he has a better understanding of how business works in boxing better than Pacquiao. When the right time comes, I do believe that Bradley will follow the steps Oscar and Floyd did and leave at the right time.

I was going to comment, but too many people took the words out of my mouth. There is alot of smart boxing fans on the site, that can see through all the smoke and mirrors of Bob. If they do make a rematch, I won't watch out of principal. Bob is just cashing out on Manny and trying to make some new money with Bradley.

you know this entire fiasco has brought up interesting questions...to answer yours first...he tells us just how right after the fight, something along the lines of "I'll make a lot of money from the rematch."

But if he did set this whole thing up (i can't explain how, which means I'm not entirely sure he did, but it's an idea, true or not, that I don't share alone) he must've been banking on a close fight, which general consensus says it wasn't. Pacquiao loses, setting up a highly anticipated rematch. But since the general opinion says it wasn't a close fight, he just has a whole bunch of backlash now, and a lot of people are su****ious. So, now it looks like he's trying to save face...maybe cause he really didn't do anything suspect, he could honestly be very concerned for Pacquiao and is willingly launching an investigation

I dunno, I had the fight 8-4...I had basically Jerry Roth's scorecard except I gave round 7 to Pac. If I didn't, I would've had it one round away from a draw. Still, it was clear enough for me, but I didn't have it as wide as a lot of other people did.

Rematch isn't going to sell, first fight was a hard sell anyway. Nothing in that fight showed that Tim Bradley is going to be a star. Bradley has no pop, Pacquiao was laughing at him.

You're asking the wrong question. The top objective is and always was to kill all talks of a Mayweather bout. Everything else trickles down from there.

But regardless, Bradley won the fight.

                      AND THE NEW...

As an unbiased fan who likes both Pacquiao and Mayweather (as fighters, of course. Manny's a little easier to like as a human but this is boxing), I don't think it's obvious that either fighter wants to fight the other. In my opinion, Pacquiao's camp has plenty of reason to believe he can't beat Mayweather. On the other hand, Mayweather's afraid of a puncher's chance, or possibly of being robbed.

Plus, does this kill talks of a Mayweather fight? No. Pacquiao dominated Bradley's ass. It's not the case that it was a close fight and so now we're preoccupied with a rematch. Everyone still thinks Manny won and they still want that fight.

We know while he's with Top Rank, even if he wants the Floyd fight, it won't be made. But Manny can't just leave Top Rank, he has a contract. The real reason for this fix was to either create a new star in Bradley, or at the very least create a profitable possible trilogy. It did neither, so Arum's SOL until he can figure out how to fix this. I wouldn't be surprised if he were to throw Bradley under the bus immediately and just join the chorus of people saying he's an illegitimate champion, and go find someone else for Manny to fight.
