Rigo has ten pro fights, Lara is 16-1-1. Both still have limited professional exposure, especially Guillermo. As long as they keep winning in exciting fashion, I have no doubt they'll get greater opportunities. Protected fighters will be shielded from anyone that's good, not just these guys.

Gamboa wanted Rios and he was given Rios. Yuri was offered more money than anyone with his record and fan-base could reasonably expect. A lot of garbage has been written about Gamboa after the "Bam Bam" fiasco, but these are facts. Yuri is a potential superstar and Bob Arum knows it. That's why he gave in to Gamboa's demands with Brandon and why he's bending over backwards now to mend fences with "El Ciclon."

I think Cuban fighters are given greater opportunities and exposure than many other boxers. Solis, for example, was granted a heavyweight title shot with only eighteen pro fights. If Cubans are held back from big fights, it's because they're lacking in some way: experience, fan-base, appeal, excitement, whatever. Give it a little more time, our guys will eventually take their rightful place among boxing's elite.

Lol, i don't think they will even let Rigo pass the drug test against Donaire.

There are only about 1.5 million Cubans living in the United States. Secondly, many Cuban fighters are still adjusting their style to the professional ranks. Todays fight fans demand more excitement than ever.

If you have an electrifying fighter who brings constant action and knocks everyone out (a la vintage Mike Tyson), no one will care where he's from. He'll gain fans from all walks of life. For this reason I've always thought Yuriorkis Gamboa, out of all current Cuban fighters, has the best chance of becoming a superstar.
It is going to be tough because they are that good, the promoters doesn't want a Cuban superstar as long as they have the Pacquio's, Canelo's and Juniors of the world, the same thing happened to Castor back in the 90's and early 2000's, only once he headlined a big card here in Miami and the place was packed, they will not put donaire against Rigondeaux for the same reason Juanma didn't fight Gamboa and Canelo's is not fighting Lara, they will lose and they will lose bad and then what?

I've met rigondeaux twice now in Hialeah when visiting family. Its funny though because in his interviews he always says he's a true southpaw. That's not true though.
wait so how do you know he's really right handed?
