The aura around his team was that they had been hinted that they are waiting to get rid of rigo as soon as possible so that the pressure to fight donaire finally ends. This is the same guy that would always give me the gamboa-rios updates before anyone knew it, so i trust what he says.
Interesting story, bro. I don't doubt it. But the truth is, nowadays, every fighter ought to be going for the KO. Way too many blatant robberies...and no one is safe.

yah i find this very hilarious...if rigo (who i admit has great punching power) wasn't going to be able to ko a nobody fighter like teon kennedy then i wouldn't have been interested about seeing a rigo vs donaire fight anyways.

Nobody, including myself, wants to see the Rigo that fought Cordoba. Obviously, Guillermo could (and did) wipe the floor with Kennedy. But it's possible that the powers-that-be had a nasty surprise in store for "El Chacal" if he didn't bring the action. I can believe almost anything regarding a fix nowadays.

NO SURPRISE! Remember for about a year or so Arum was focused on making Juan Manuel Lopez a STAR and he basically pushed Gamboa to the back and made all type of excuses as to why he wouldn't match them up (he knew Gamboa would have CRUSHED JuanMa) the same thing is going to happen with Donaire and Rigondeaux

it is going to be TOUGH for Cuban Fighters to become stars and a TOP DRAW in boxing in America and we all know why (Fidel and the poor history between Cuba and America)

it is going to be tough to market Cuban Fighters to not really Hardcore Boxing Fans...but more so the Casual Fans

I think Donaire is scared to death of Rigo. Just go to his facebook page and make some comment like 'Why don't you fight Rigo?' or 'I think Rigo would be a good fight' and it gets deleted within the hour. I think that Rigo wins that fight easily if it ever happens.

I am shocked at the things Arum will do in order to make a dollar.

I think it's going to be tough, but not for the reason you offer. I believe it has to do, firstly, with potential fan-base. There are only about 1.5 million Cubans living in the United States. Secondly, many Cuban fighters are still adjusting their style to the professional ranks. Todays fight fans demand more excitement than ever.

If you have an electrifying fighter who brings constant action and knocks everyone out (a la vintage Mike Tyson), no one will care where he's from. He'll gain fans from all walks of life. For this reason I've always thought Yuriorkis Gamboa, out of all current Cuban fighters, has the best chance of becoming a superstar.
