There's a very good interview with Manny Steward for 'On The Ropes Boxing Radio #96' that answers this question fairly well. It's well worth a look.
Why Did Prince Naseem Quit After Barrera?

again....your opinion, not mine...Man and the commentary was so biased for Barrera, he was getting credit for shots that didnt land, while they didnt even make a sound when Morales landed a good uppercut or right handOriginally posted by shinya aokihe clearly beat morles in there 3rd fight go watch it again no one disputes thatComment

If you don't think Barrera won the 3rd fight against Morales you should just give the **** up on life already, because it's pretty obvious that you're failing miserably.
Morales looked like hot garbage in that fight and got beaten handily.Comment

Bad hands....Seriously, that beating was not even that bad. Barrera won by 3-4 rounds. wow. big deal.
Did Barrera expose something else that wasn't talked about in public?
Honestly, the entire fight was bizaare. I'll let you know why. Barrera REQUESTED NEW GLOVES, the commission approved Barrera's request and they were flown in last minute.
Naseem looked clearly truly bothered coming into the ring. He didn't do the usual flip over the top rope as if he already knew his schtick had been exposed.
In that fight Naseem did not demonstrate the level of punching power seen in his entire career despite landing numerous seemingly flush shots on Barrera. He never even fazed Barrera.Comment

Doing some research is a very good idea. Hamed had one more fight which he won comfortably, but which didn't produce the usual fireworks. He lost interest in boxing.Do some research. Naz had one more, but lost it and then retired.
Watch Little Prince, Big Fight on Youtube. You can see his sparring wasn't that good and they were living the life, his team were playing pool and laughing at Barerra training up in the cold mountains while Naz was down there in the warmth.
Anyway watch that documentary and tell me Naz was hungry.
By the way, about the Barrerra fight, Hamed had the greatest sized ego in the world, and, according to his trainer, with whom he'd parted, for the previous couple of years had been badly skimping training. So his results began to suffer, and he lost his fire (a vicious circle). He was reputed to have only trained for 3 weeks half-heartedly for Barrera. And it showed. Which was why he was so lack-lustre in the fight, Nothing like the usual Naseem Hamed.Comment

When does a fighter hugely popular, making millions per fight against anybody, quit just because he lost 1 fight against a top fighter. Never. he had other reasons. I'd forgotten about his hands he always had trouble from unching too hard. But also, he split up with the trainer who really brought him on, and skimped training for a long time.LMFAAOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!
How gullible are you?
Yea lets believe the guy who is in question.
Hamed quit because he was embarrassed by barerra & looking at his future he would have to either give barerra a rematch or face morales, pacquiao, or marquez & he knew he would suffer more humiliation if he continued.
He did what joe calzaghe did, count his money, saw that there were great fighters coming up & decided to conveniently retire.
Embarrassed?? Hamed??? Never.Comment
