kev, in my opinion, the reason why bernard hopkins should retire, is because at this point, he'd be retiring on top, with all his faculties...imo, bernard hopkins, has accomplished all he can accomplish in the sport, along with bernard hopkins, probably being done as a multi-million dollar purse, ppv attraction, along with the fact, that bernard hopkins, never was on the top tier in terms of ppv fighters, and would be fighting tough young fighters, at a fraction of what he used to get...not only do i think, for these reasons, that bernard hopkins, would be hustling backwards, but he would also, imo, be easier to beat by fighters who would not be able to beat him in his prime...

A rookie can win ROY award with that number. Denver offered him a contract but he refused and retired.

Robert Parish had a 23 yr career. but he spend most of his time at the bench during his last few years because he cant contribute anymore.

so Bernard... how would you like to do it?
The case of Parish is the opposite of Kareem Abdul Jabbar ( Ferdinand Lewis Alcindor Jr.) who has a 20yrs NBA career and retired as an NBA champ.

On the other hand, B-Hop should be retired long time ago and should be enjoying the fruits of his labor with his family.

I'd like to see Bernard go out as a major title holder and I feel he's still capable of achieving that.

I'm also not that feared for the man's health 'cause he doesn't really take shots. He's forgotten more about boxing than most fighters have ever known.

going from the lineal champ @ 175, to beating a lessor opponent, for a fringe belt, on espn friday night fights, or hbo world championship boxing, is all i can see bernard hopkins, doing at this point, and there's not a ton of money in that, to satisfy hopkins greed...chad dawson already proved, that bernard hopkins, would never beat him in another rematch...so regaining the lineal title, while chad dawson is the man, ain't happening...

stokely, if you think that bernard hopkins, doesn't take shots during a fight, i advise you to watch his fight with joe calzaghe, who hit him more than anybody since roy jones in 93, his 2nd fight with roy jones, where he complained about rabbit punches, while fighting dirty himself, his fight with jean pascal, who dropped him 2X with punches he didn't see, also in jean pascal 2, where he got rocked in the 12th round by jean pascal, and most recently, took head shots all night long from chad dawson, and probably saved himself from being tko'd when he double clutched chad dawson...

...stokely, just because bernard hopkins, at close to 50 years old, takes a good shot, doesn't mean that he still can't suffer psychological damage from accumulation of punches, once his career is over...stokely, pernell whitaker, a far better defensive genius than bernard hopkins, is a good example of that...

Wright has basically been retired for years already, barring the sporadic comeback loss.
