Julius Erving was still averaging 17pts in 1987.

A rookie can win ROY award with that number. Denver offered him a contract but he refused and retired.

Robert Parish had a 23 yr career. but he spend most of his time at the bench during his last few years because he cant contribute anymore.

so Bernard... how would you like to do it?

B-Hop is truly what I call another level of fighter. Winky & Mosley are done. But Hop can still give out a loss or 2 to the young.

If Bernard wants to stay active.. that's his decision. However, the thought of him taking another HBO/SHO/PPV date from an upcoming young prospect/champion does irritate me a bit.

Just for the name sake and recognition, promoters/networks will give him a show from the ever depleting limited numbers of date that should be use to showcase future and present talent.

Who would have tought that in 2012, we would be reading an article that feature Mosley, Winky and Bernard?! Is the state of this sport of ours in such a deteriorated state? But this is part of the problem... old past their prime figthers keep getting not only network dates but media coverage.

He can still talk about who he is or aint but

If he think he's not prone to damage at an older age and it's worth it to him let him fight. I can see his story ending like this: Bernard has brain damage for fighting to long and his wife is spending all of the money in a healthy state on some young _ick because he's done! Bernard don't no the guy next door but he no his wife.

Hopkins better retire as well or you will get knocked out brutally some day. It seems thats exactly what has to happen for him to retire.

Seeing two once so dominant fighters like Wright and Mosley unable to compete at the late age of 40, just makes Hopkins career look that much more impressive. He's had some of his most impressive wins AFTER 40. I would like to see BHOP retire on another historic milestone and/or an dominant upset win like those he had against Tarver, Pavlik, or Pascal.

                my thoughts exactly!!

in another thread, pacp4plegend or whatever his name is stated

"Bernard Hopkins could not even be in manny pacquiao's shadow when it comes to boxing greatness" and he was actually serious when he said it. Just thought I'd share and get his name out there...

Winky just got done in by inactivity. You can't take that much time off and expect to remain good. If he had never taken that much time off he might very well still have the ability to keep fighting, but he had a great career and has nothing to be ashamed of. He may not have looked good against Quillin, but at no point in time did he quit and he gave it everything he had in that fight. Shane did the same in the Canelo fight. He did quit in the Pac fight, and I think that's what drove him to take the Canelo fight. He can look back on that Canelo fight and say he left everything he had in the ring and my guess is he can live with that.
