Leonard and Michael Spinks should only be mentioned.

Leon's whole claim to fame was a victory over a seriously shot Ali.

Howard Davis was just as fast as SRL, but never even won a title.

76 was a great team as well, but I LOVE the 84 class. That was my dad's class although he didn't make the Olympic team at 140, as Jerry Paige went and won gold 140 (a guy my dad beat a couple times). The USA today actually picked my dad to win gold in 84 at 140, that was pretty cool. But again, I love the 84 class and I actually know a few guys off that team since they all came up fighting with my old man in the amateurs.

        Mark Breland
        Virgil Hill
        Evander Holyfield
        Henry Tillman

        Compared to 1988's:

        Kennedy McKinney
        Roy Jones
        Ray Mercer

America only had so much success that year because of the boycott of the games by the soviet union (that includes cuba too)!! It's no coincidence....

The best amateurs ever are non american:

        Laszlo Papp
        Felix Savon
        Teofilo Stevenson
        Boris Lagutin
        Aleksei Tishchenko (still active)
        Mario Kindelán
Oleg Saitov (The greatest amateur boxer of the 90's)
        Jerzy Kulej
        Vladimir Yengibaryan
        Vasyl Lomachenko (still active)

Have you heard of Lomachenko? The great guillermo was voted only one time as the best amateur boxer in the world by AIBA, while Lomachenko has been voted already 3 times at the age of what 22 or 23!!

Look at what we missed out on for decades because of soviet rule:

Igor vysotsky who beat teofilio stevenson, tony tubbs etc

Alexander Miroshnichenko who beat lennox lewis and put rid**** bowe on his arse twice!!

        etc etc

Can't forget Stevie McCrory, my godfather's (Milton McCrory) younger brother that won Gold in 84 too. Although Stevie his career as a pro wasn't as decorated as the above mentioned fighters.

Yes, but his career was very short. Knee problems and upper respiratory problems were the culprit. However, he was an outstanding amateur fighter at 140 pounds. But I've the opportunity to meet alot of fighters over the years. My dad's closest friend is Evander and we see him often and we've visited him down in Atlanta at his CRAZY mansion.
