Well, you're an idiot, so you should be ignored by all, but let me add my two cents.
I've seen fights of past greats and in many cases they would get obliterated by today's fighters. Watching guys like Emile Griffith, who is held in very high esteem by some old members here...that guy would his ******* torn out by Roy, Hopkins, G-man, McCallum, and probably Julian Jackson too.
Then there are some past greats who just have a good STYLE to frustrate fighters in any era. One fighter that fits that mold is Jack Johnson. With his size and style he could probably compete in any era. -

I disagree about Roy. With Roy's glass chin he would not hold up even to Emille Griffith.Comment

Griffith looked for one punch KO's. He'd never get one vs Roy. Firstly, he's small, and not particularly fast, nor was he defense anything special. Roy would easily outbox and probably stop him late.I disagree about Roy. With Roy's glass chin he would not hold up even to Emille Griffith.Comment

If Griffith would land just one shot on Roy. It would be lights out for Roy and his weak chin.Comment

Interesting. I guess that explains why bigger and stronger or better fighters like Toney, Woods, Hopkins, Sosa, Ruiz KO'd Roy in his prime. I sure wish Roy had not gotten hit by them!If Griffith would land just one shot on Roy. It would be lights out for Roy and his weak chin.

Griffith looked for one punch kayos? WTF? You need to see more of his fights. Griffith was a strong, fluid boxer who had quick hands and decent power. He was certainly not a KO artist or a wild swinging slugger.Comment

hmm
I've seen his fights, thanks! He fell in love with his power if you ask me. I never said he just went sloppy and wild looking for KO's, but to describe him as fluid doesn't really do it for me either. Simply put, the guy is not as good as some old timers have made him out to be.
But, he was great in his era, which is fine.Comment

As for this thread, it makes me laugh when people talk **** about old fighters of whom no film exists and so they have no way of really criticising. Greb by all historical accounts was...
1. The absolute quickest fighter in the first half of the century.
2. The closest thing to a complete package anyone at the time had ever seen. He had speed, agility, strength, accuracy, endurance, chin, had an awkward style and wastough to hit etc. All he lacked was a knockout punch but with his movement and limitless stamina he didn't need one.
3. Owner of one of the greatest records in in boxing history.
Have some respect for a man most experts regard as a top five all time P4P fighter.Comment
