  • Froch v Bute RBR

Round 1 - Bute - the crowd cheered every Froch punch but I felt Bute outboxed him in this round with his left hand counters and work to the body, Froch stood off and maybe gave him too much respect losing the round.

Round 2 - Froch - Bute was doing well the first half of the round but Froch hurt him for the first time half-way through with a right-handed body shot (irony) and then closed it out with a strong final minute

Round 3 - Froch - Bute started well but after he hit Froch with his second flush shot Froch seemed to just say 'fuck it, it's on' and beat the crap out of him on the ropes for the rest of the round. British commentators were talking 10-8, what do US fans think?

Round 4 - Even - felt Bute was out-boxing Froch in this round, imo he landed the cleaner punches in the exchanges but the last 15 seconds Froch unleashed a quite a few good flurries including a huge bomb on the bell which had Bute almost out

Round 5 - Froch finished him as expected after the end of the 4th

How were you scoring it until that point?

I had Froch winning EVERY round....the first round being the closest though...speaking of that round...Bute landed a short left as Froch came in and the Cobra took it like a G....I turned to my homies and told them...FIGHT OVER!!!!....Froch is gonna stomp him

when I think a fighter lands his BEST punch on his opponent and gets no reaction outta him like a wobble or a sign of being hurt....then I feel like he's gonna get cooked as the fight goes on...thats my way of thinking when watching the fights lol....MOST of the time I'm dead on

        I had it 4-1 Froch.
I am one of the ppl who think Froch was gonna lose.
Even that first round was close.

        The summary was this:

Bute couldn't land his jab with his right hand down. Bute had solid body and head movement. After the jab is neutralized, Bute tries to go inside. When Bute tries to go inside or lead with his left, he was heavily exposed and got countered hard as Froch moved away (constantly clockwise) from Bute's dominant hand. Froch's left foot was always inside of Bute and surprisingly matched foot speed well with Bute...

After Froch hurt Bute with some flush shots, he started to walk him down. Bute's was hugging Froch like a little boy hugging his teddy bear. It was over.

Unless Bute has a new solid game plan, he is probably gonna lose. There is no significant relative foot speed and power advantage by Bute. And Bute ain't landing his body shots so the result would be similar in a rematch. Bute's right foot has to be able to move/pivot faster so he can feint and land body shots and mix it with the jabs. Without the ability to do that and with Bute's relatively low punch resistance, not looking good if there is a rematch.

You don't think Bute could adapt and come up with a new gameplan? Agree on punch resistance, that was a surprising facet of the fight, Froch's power seemed to take him by surprise.

In regard to gameplan, I mentioned it earlier with feints and movement. But how much of relative speed can Bute really muster in say 6 months? Bute doesn't seem to do well fighting backfoot. No power. It comes down to movement and ability to confuse Froch as Froch is not the best mover. If Bute can't achieve that, it is a no brainer that rematch would probably result in the same. Froch, at this point, has absolutely no respect for Bute's power. He did earlier in the fight and tasted Bute's power and kind of just shook it off like dog shaking off a flea - an annoyance but not a hindrance at all.
Besides, Bute ain't that young anymore so major adjustment, if it is even possible, would take some time. Not sure a 6 month is enough time.

I wouldn't go that far. Froch did say Bute 'hurt' him, in fact I felt it was a couple of good shots from Bute which made Froch turn it into a tear-up (see my description of round 3).

You're probably right about a rematch. It's still surprising to me how much Froch's power got to Bute, it was like he was from a weight class below.

Maybe Bute would match up better against another 'pure' boxer, a rematch is probably best avoided at this stage.

There were couple of really solid counter that really seemed to have surprised Bute....hugging time. I actually think Bute matches better against Kessler stylewise. But Froch is too rough for Bute. BTW, Kessler hasn't been the same after Ward and Froch.

                    1 - Even
                    2- Froch
                    3- Froch
                    4 - Froch
                    5- Froch (obviously)

If you really want to give Bute a round it'd have to be round 1 but that's only if you are looking to give him a round, otherwise it was pretty even
