Froch / Bute evokes the same reaction as..

Calzaghe / Lacy. Remember everyones reaction after that fight? Yes Lacy proved to be a falsity but at the time it was a phenomenal performance by Calzaghe and a career awakening.

I hope Froch can build on this, right now he is the darling of fight fans, a boxer who has courage most of us can only dream of possessing. Universally respected by true boxing fans, perhaps respected more than any other fighter still boxing today.

Bute was more proven than Lacy IMO.

With wins over Andrade, Johnson and Miranda and Magee.

Lacy had Ried, Ruben Williams and Sheika = yuck

We all know Andrade knocked Bute out.

Lacy and Bute were simply hype jobs it would seem. When they fought an a/b class fighter they got found out straight away,

I agree, but this is not my point. The post-fight reaction of the two fights are very similar - just scroll through old pages here on NSB. The underdog not only wins, but utterly dominates in the process. We fans live for nights like this, entertainment at its best and just what our sport needs.

BOXING won last night, it was wonderful.

            Was Calzaghe really the underdog?

I think more people expected Kessler to beat Cal.

You think more people expected Kessler to beat Calzaghe than Lacy to beat Calzaghe?

                You must be joking?

I remember at the time that everyone was accusing Joe of ducking Mikkel.

Prior to the fight at least the Max Boxing folk expected Kessler to win big.
