IMO, Froch is a greater fighter than Calzaghe.

It literally was exactly like that.
Froch had a solid following pre super six. His fights with Pascal, Ried, and I forgot his other name were getting 5-8000 people. I know that doesn't sound like a lot but when you compare it to a lot of fighters, it is a good amount. I mean, he was no Naz or Hatton in popularity but it wasn't like no one knew who he was. A lot of people wanted the fight.

i think their respective performances against kessler separate them at the moment. if froch wins another big one -- especially if it's kessler himself -- i'll bump him up above joe.

        You're seriously way off here.

Carl Froch is still barely known in the UK right now outside of Hardcore Boxing fans.

In 08, most hardcore Boxing fans didn't even know who he was.

Come on.. not like Glen Johnson or Jermain Taylor were in their fricking primes.

Pascal - Top class win but lost to an older version of Calzaghe's best opponent
Dirrell - Top win if Dirrell actually does something (hasn't really done ****) - if you call it a win
Bute - Top win, lets see if Bute was 'exposed' though or if he is actually a top fighter
Abraham - Too small for 168, lost nearly every fight there

Lost to Kessler (Calzaghe beat convincingly), Ward

Froch has the better resume, better achievements, and the greater fighter.

But Prime for Prime Calzaghe will beat him.

Calzaghe openly ducked pre prime Froch to fight 40 year olds!

And you think Calzaghe would get within a one mile radius of prime Froch?? LOL

I think Froch definitely has the better resume at 168.

And is one win away from being the greater fighter all together.

If Froch beats Kessler in a rematch then he's greater than Calzaghe by a margin, IMO.
Calzaghe was the man at 168 and 175 so Froch would have to beat Ward and Dawson.

So Froch would need to beat Ward and Dawson to be greater than Calzaghe? If Froch did that he would probably be the greatest fighter from the whole U.K! Lets not get carried away, Zags resume isn't nearly that good. Especially if you think Froch needs to beat 2 top 10 p4pers, from 2 different weight classes.

I don't care if Calzaghe was the man at 168 or if you believe he was the man at 175. Those two weight classes were both rather weak at that time. Now those two divisions are arguably top 5 divisions in the sport.

I don't mean to attack your post but that is the exact point I was making with people from the UK love Calzaghe. You want him to go through the Super Six, Pascal, fight Kessler again, Bute, and now beat Ward in a rematch and then move up and beat the king of that division(mind you he already beat the previous king). All that, while Calzaghe did so very little.

All because Calzaghe had a few belts.

                      Not at all.

Calzaghe never fought anyone as good as Ward and turned down a fight with Dawson. Carl could call out ancient Roy Jones and win no problem, tie one of Calzaghe's 'best' wins without breaking sweat.
