Bute dodged a bullet by not being in the Super 6

I think we can all say Bute dodged a bullet by avoiding the Super 6. I think Bute would have gotten beaten a lot earlier if he was apart of the Super 6. Bute is a good fighter but the way he didnt join the super 6 and still say your the best at 168 was a beyotch move.

    Agree fully with this.

      Not really.

I think being in the super six would have improved Bute as a fighter. I'm not saying he wouldn't have lost, but he would have been in some competitive fights, which would have added to his overall game and experience.

Let's face it, because of their styles, Bute would match up ok with Dirrell and maybe Ward. He would have had enough to beat Taylor, Green, and Abraham, and a Kessler fight would have been a toss up. Froch is just a style nightmare for Bute pure and simple. An awkward aggressor, with a world class chin, and bags of power, who is willing to walk through shots to give his own, will always trouble him.

all depends on who he was fighting first.

if he fought an easier opponent early on and won then he could be prepared for better opponents towards the end of the tournament. but if he fought kessler/froch/ward early on then yep, he would have been completely exposed.

He would have lost to Froch, Ward and Kessler so yeah he did dodge a bullet.

Come on, looking at that fight last night he would have beaten MAYBE Jermain Taylor. Everyone else would have beaten him at least comfortably.

I gotta agree, if he fought in the super 6 he wouldn't lost sooner or later... only Ward lucked out cause all his fights were in his backyard

Except the Super Six final against Froch.

                    This ^^^.

If he kept his mouth shut and didn't make statements like, all those guys are fighting each other for the right to fight the real best fighter [me] at '68 after, coupled with the relentless hype after beating the Brinkley's of the world is what turned him into a hype machine.

He was happy after losing to Froch yesterday... Bute looked like he was perfectly fine with getting devoured, like he was just happy to have had his 15 minutes.

I wasn't a fan of the tourney back when it started in '09 but I watched anyway, and soon started getting more hooked to the tourney. Those guys worked hard in that tourney and deserve all the respect in the world for fighting the best in the weight class over the span of three years; while Bute passed on numerous opportunities to get involved. Glen Johnson hadn't fought at '68 in yeaaaaaaaars and he jumped in. Green complained about being drained at '68 and he joined. Taylor was told to drop out and he still wanted to get back in the tourney.

After Froch put in work yesterday...... FINALLY!
