Would Ward beat Bute? Yeah most likely he would. Would he stop him in 5 rounds? Doubtful. Is Bute an elite SMW? not really.

Styles do make fights but so do level of skill. Bute was overrated a bit, he's your typical B fighter who might not be able to compete with the top level contenders while still looking good against other B level fighters. That's pretty much the only proof, Bute isn't at Froch's level and he is not likely at Ward's at all.

Yes, especially when you're a self-proclaimed Italian mobster who supposedly ran James Toney out of the ring.

Yeah it doesn't prove Ward beats Bute anymore than Bute kOing Froch in the rematch (assuming they still go through with it) "proves" he can beat Ward. Bute looked shockingly bad last night and obviously has to earn a shot at Ward, but I'm still interested in seeing that fight, assuming Andre gets by Dawson.

Exposed, off night or bad matchup? Time will tell. But I'm curious to see how Ward deals with someone of Bute or Dirrell's speed.

Lol @ the ppl arguing Bute lost because of his style. He lost because he didn't belong in the ring with an elite world class fighter. Bute's style is in no way tailor made for Carl froch. End that noise rite now. On paper, Bute supposedly had a number of stylistic advantages. What it boils down to is the simple fact that he was exposed and he's not that good. Ppl may say ward didn't beat him. So what. He shouldn't have ever been mentioned with ward in tgectrue first place. We've already seen ward fight the 2 best guys in the division and Bute did nothing to be mentioned along side them. So anyone who wants to say ward didn't beat him, so flipping what. Who has Bute beaten that ever made him #2 or #3?

I have been saying it all along, Bute was being undefeated but the level of his competition was terrible. Froch is just a higher level of fighter who has better wins and lots of experience gained from fighting in the super six while Bute was fighting cab drivers in canada.

Ward would wipe the floor with Bute because bute's best win is a 43 year old glen johnson and Ward is the lineal champion and winner of the super six. There is no comparison in the level of competition they fought. Bute is just a Canadian JCC jr.

I'm so glad Froch destroyed Bute so Bute Ward couldn't happen, instilling some real real integrity into whatever of it is left in boxing.

May no other undefeated can crusher jump 4 spots to get a title shot to a battle tested champion ever again.

"Ward NEEDS to fight Bute to prove he's the best!!! omg"
