May 2011-May 2012, not including the Cotto fight only includes the Ortiz fight.

    $40 million against Ortiz.

wow those are good numbers for boxing!

anyway back to topic IMHO 85M number is closer to how much the whole PPV actually earned, at most floyd could get a couple million in addition to his guaranteed purse ...

      • Floyd made a lot out of that fight, his guaranteed purse was supposed to be $35 million right? Plus a percentage of all the other stuff, but theres no way that adds up to $85 million, he will still get a small share of the PPV because the people that run it need paying, etc. The exact same thing goes for everything else. Maybe you could say he took home like $45 million, $50 million at the very most before tax and paying his camp and what not.

Still an amazing amount of money though.

        • I think we can all agree, Pacquiao is a dumb ****.

          Mayweather 85Mill fighting Cotto,
          Pacquiao 5Mill fighting Cotto.

            • I just don't think that Manny is smart enough to do it and even aware enough to want to do it. He's happy making $6 million per fight. He lets Bob "I Have No Soul" Arum and Michael Koncz make all of his decisions for him and probably doesn't even know the disparity in income between him and Mayweather. Like Floyd says. It takes a smart businessman to surround himself with smart business people. Manny isn't a smart businessman and is surrounded by people who are just leeching off of him and not looking after his best interests and these people (especially Koncz and Arum) know how to manipulate Manny in order to make him do what they want. Therefore nobody is pushing for him to leave Arum and secure the Mayweather fight, because they know as well as we know that his chances are extremely slim and that Floyd would probably retire him, ending the cash flow for everyone involved. So they are just content to continue having him fight these "gimme" fights under Arum rather than throwing him to Mayweather who would more than likely expose him and put a career-ending beating on him.

Pacquiao made $67 million with 2 fights plus endorsements form 5+ companies

Floyd made $40 million with 1 fight and no endorsement

I understand now why Floyd won't give him a 50/50, numbers don't lie.

                • LOL at some welfare collecting bum praising Floyd's earnings as if it some how going to elevate his lifestyle.

What happened to the real fans of boxing who celebrated fighters in ring accomplishments? Now we got losers boasting about fighters earning...smh
