The Philippines probably saw more then the rest of 3rd world. I mean didn't the past President there try to hook the people to boxing so that they can forget their woes? What was that fight held in October 1, 1975 in Philippines that was shown in National TV in Philippines so that even the poor can watch?

As to National TV in Philippines, not sure how much exposure the Phillipines have had or if the Thrilla in Manilla helped them get Boxing but I know in some hotels here in the US, I can't even get some basic channels. I imagine replay or hearing about boxing in the paper may have helped overseas but heck, watching Closed Circuit here in the US in the late 70's was iffy at best....not sure where Technology was then and accross the pond at that. Many areas cannot even get ABC right now in the US on a typical antenna! Let alone in the 70's when Leonard was on Wide World of Sports. I would think that live broadcasts were for Rich people and those in the greater populus areas. Here in the US, you had to pay for cable to get the major stations if you did not live in a big city.Comment
