Comments Thread For: Andre Ward on Kessler’s KO of Green, Response to Bute

Unified super middleweight champion Andre “S.O.G.” Ward traveled across the Bay Bridge from his native Oakland, Calif., to the Comcast SportsNet Bay Area studios in San Francisco Wednesday afternoon to break down last Saturday’s matchup between two of his former Super Six opponents, Mikkel Kessler and Allan Green.

From what I've seen of Ward (not that much other than the Super Six), he seems like a class act, in and out of the ring. I think he'll handle Dawson pretty comfortably, to be honest I can't see anybody touching him at 168.

Well said by Ward. Keeps fighting the best too. A decisive win over Dawson would be huge.

I agree. I'm not that mad about him not facing Bute right now. Who's basically had the Canelo route, soft touches & rated highly for someone who hasn;t fought anyone of note. I'm also surprised that so many believe Bute just smashes Froch. Who has the size, stamina & ferocity that Bute has never seen. Plus world class ability.

Basically. Ward doesn't have to prove anything. The onus is on Bute to prove himself because his resume is a ways back. And Ward is fighting Chad Dawson next. Lucian who? And as Ward mentioned, if Bute gets past Froch, the fight is ideal.

What ridiculous logic. The onus is always on a fighter to continue to prove themselves. Lucian who? Who the hell was Andre Ward before Kessler agreed to fight him in his hometown? Lucian Bute was the next guy in line at 168.

Has Chad Dawson even fought at 168? How is he one of the best at 168?

Chad Dawson is one of the best, period. I don't know how good he is at 168. We'll soon find out.

I notice you ducked the rest of my post. Who was Andre Ward before he got a shot at Kessler? I'd say his resume was even more lacking than Bute's is currently.

He was a prospect. But we aren't talking about Ward from x amount of years ago. He's proven himself. Bute has to do the same.
