Comments Thread For: Erik Morales Could Have Maidana, Soto-Matthysse, More

In the span of a week, former four division world champion Erik Morales (52-8, 36KOs) has seen three possible opportunities fall through. Morales was hoping to face countryman Juan Manuel Marquez, British star Amir Khan, or lure WBC 140-pound champion Danny Garcia into a rematch.

Please retire if Marquez doesn't want any part of you! You're already in my book!

Those are some pretty shitty options. Morales already beat Maidana, and he doesn't need another hard puncher like Matthysee at this point in his career. If Marquez is not man enough to face Morales, maybe it's time to look at other options......

Are you kidding? JMM isn't fighting Morales and if you think its because Marquez isn't man enough, thats your opinion. Marquez was man enough to jump up two weight divisions and fight Manny with all the bull**** stipulations. Not to mention he went up to welterweight to fight Mayweather too. Marquez is going to make more money then Erik has ever made in a single fight when he fights Pacquiao for the 4th later this year. Marquez vs Morales is high risk low reward for JMM and he can fight someone else and take the lions share of the purse.
So Marquez is out of the picture and Maidana or the Soto vs Matthysse winner are his only real options. Showtime or HBO probably wouldn't pay to see Morales fight unless it was against one of those three.

Prediction: Khan beats Garcia then vacates. Ajose gets ****ed over for the trillionth time and Soto fights Morales for a 4th title if he beats Matthysse. Soto has more left in the tank than Morales, so he'll become the second Mexican to win a 4th (and not to mention paper) title. Hooray!!

Morales vs Maidana would be a good fight, they both are coming off losses and could use the win bad.
