Its like a guy whose been in the pub all day and been dared to step in a ring and take as much punishment as he can withstand.

Did he ever have a fight where half his face wasn't left hanging off?

He just curls up & plods forward with a high guard. He was like Joshua Clottey with only 1/10th of his offense.

It's more of an attitude than people actually coming out and saying "all of the previous generations of fighters are better on GP". Like I said, when fans act like resume is the end all be all when it comes to ranking fighters, that's what they're basically saying. Having said all that, I don't disrespect the older generations. I agree that fans of today need to understand that it's ok to admit to being somewhat ignorant. I wouldn't speak on a fighter that I wasn't familiar with.

But, this is your first era though. It's obvious. And that's fine.

Old ass Avi's? It's in colour so that's ok. Isn't it? What's my Avi have to do with anything? Is it a crime to like fighters from the 60's? The 60's is my favourite era of Boxing.

When you say "Old school", how far back are we going?

Because accoridng to you, Whitaker is an "old school fighter" Which further confirms you are new to Boxing. Which again, is fine.

You shouldn't be so ignorant, though.
once again ive actually boxed which i doubt you EVER have.can you even locate a gym in your city???how am i new to a sport i have lived??hell my 11 year old has been in the am's for 2 years now..boxing is my life you just watch it son

i have pondered the same question over and over. i agree to some extent that some of the old school fighters fought at an era where they were considered to be the atg's. every era has had great boxers, underrated boxers, and champions, but i'm not trying to knock their accomplishments. TS does have a valid point and cosidering that if the old school boxers vs todays boxers were to challenge each other, there would be some differences in opinions as to whether old school boxers were automatically the best.

I saw your other posts. Why would you have a problem if someone saw and old tape of an SRR and didn't come away awe struck?

On this board especially people are always saying watch this or check this video out. So posters are supposed to take a 5 min self made video or even a tape of a whole fight , watch it, and then they have to come away with the same feeling as you or they don't know anything?

Irondan you know exactly what the point is here. Some of the NSB illuminati make it seem you can't possibly know the sport if you don't reach the same conclusion. Then when they can't refute your argument, its the usual BS.
                  I wouldn't have a problem.

I'm more awe struck by Floyd Mayweather or Pernell Whitaker than I am of Ray Robinson. Despite him being much greater of the three.

I don't get where these ideologies come from.

Where have I said you must be awe struck of Ray Robinson? Or anyone for that matter?

It's not a crime to point flaws out in some of the older ATG's. No one has implied that.

No one has said that older fighters are better "Because they're older". And again, that is not what Bojangles said. And I'm still yet to see it quoted.

This whole thread is based of a claim that is frankly bull****.
