Tito lost that fight. Oscar was robbed! Bernard Hopkins followed Oscars blueprint when he fought Trinidad and gave him his first official loss.

Hopkins deserved credit, for that, but not as much credit as some people give him.


He didn't really follow Oscar's 'blueprint', he was just bigger and stronger. Tito's mind was elsewhere as well.

A duck or 'perceived' duck is two fighters who are both still in or close to their primes, yet one keep avoiding the other for whatever reasons.

Or one fighter who just wait and wait and wait for another fighter to grow old and shot, then suddenly decides the 'fight is now'


Now a lot of these ducks are just rumors from the general boxing fan public, so take it for what it is.


1- Rid**** Bowe - duck Lennog Lewis

This one is not a rumor. He blatantly was terrified of Lewis and ducked him for a decade.


2- Joe Calzaghe rumored: ducked both Jones and HOpkins until they were old.

I give Joe a break here, because Hopkins seem to have gotten better with age. But people still accuse Joe of this


3- Dariuz M and Roy Jones. Most people feel that they just simply avoided and ducked each other.

If they had fought, I believe Roy Jones would have won a wide UD. But I don't think either one wanted to take the risk.

4- Sugar Ray Leonard ducked aron pryor. Once again this is accusations made that Sugar Ray felt Pryor was too big of a risk at the time. And not enough of a reward.

5-Sugar Ray Leonard giving Hagler false hope when Hagler was in his prime that they were gonna fight, then 'retiring' only to come back when Hagler was old.


6- Floyd Mayweather rumored to have avoided P Will. Magarito and Cotto prior to retirement.

Floyd rumored to be having Pacquaio now. This is actually both camps avoiding each other. I think Floyd beats all 3 at whatever times he fight them, but he did avoided Magarito Cotto and P Will when they were near their peak. (according to a lot of boxing fans at least)

7- Tyson paying Lennox Lewis 4 million 'step aside' money to not fight during the mid 90's .. This one is not talked about as much because Mike went broke like a proper champ and got ktfo in the early 2000's, but if he didnt duck Lewis during the mid 90's it would have changed HW history and Lewis's ATG rankings would have changed big time.
(I myself give Tyson a break here, because he was no longer in his prime and probably knew Lewis was gonna ktfo him)

8- Tyson avoiding 'old fat comeback George'

Now Tyson probably punch holes through this version, or he get moorrered nobody will know. We do know one thing, fat big comeback George would have fought Tyson anywhere any place.

Leonard DID duck AARON

They were never at the same weight.

Leonard offered him a career high pay-day of 250 grand for a fight, which was turned down. Aaron declined it.

Leonard fought Duran before and after the window of opportunity for the fight with Pryor. Duran is a much better fighter than Pryor who employed similar tactics. He also fought Benitez and Hearns within a few years. Also much better than Pryor. Why the hell would he duck Pryor, and then fight (or continue to fight) them?
