Comments Thread For: Sergio Martinez News; Adonis Stevenson; Haye vs Chisora

New York, NY - It has been exactly two months since Middleweight kingpin Sergio "Maravilla" Martinez defended his crown against Matthew Macklin on St. Patrick's Day, scoring a thrilling 11th-round TKO over the Irishman before a raucous sold-out crowd at the Theater at Madison Square Garden in easily one of the most entertaining fights shown live on HBO in 2012. Martinez now awaits the upcoming WBC Middleweight Championship bout between Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. and Andy Lee, which will take place on June 16, in Laredo, TX, to see who he will face next. While he waits, Martinez has kept himself extremely busy, especially in his native country of Argentina, where his popularity continues to soar to super stardom levels. Most recently, Martinez was asked to participate in the upcoming season of Bailando por un Sueño, which is Argentina's version of "Dancing with the Stars" and considered the most popular television program in the entire country. Last year, Mike Tyson was one of the contestants on the show.

Good that Sergio is getting his name out to the masses - its just happened in the wrong hemisphere. He needs to be promoted in the US where he fights, not in his home country. And its not like he needs to be promoted in Argentina anyways, they already know who he is. It would be like promoting Marquez in Mexico or Khan in Britian - pointless, named foreign boxers usually already have established home fanbases, they need to create one on foreign soil.

Wish there were more boxers like Sergio.

This true champ is only beneficial to the sport. Nothing bad can be said about him with any sense attached to it.

        MARTINEZ TRUE CHAMP!

BTW mushahahahdeen has issues inside himself. No need to pay attention. Thought I'd beat him to it LOL

Martinez is a stand up dude, extremely well-rounded, charismatic, he has everything it takes to be a star. Who else out there is able to control the pace of the fight like he can so that when he wants to turn it up and close the show, he does precisely that?

He does nothing bad for the sport....

Its funny to see all the pu$$yboy chavez jr fan saying Sergio should fight at 168. Sergio is a small 160 (the real wbc champ). Scared of little old sergio waxing that ass of pu$$yboy paperchamp. Eat a dic% top stink and WBC....i hope when sergio gets his WBC belt back he throws thats **** in the trash. Mayweather vs sergio will be coming soon (mayweather will get 70-75% huge $$)

Mayweather-martinez is the best fight outside of pac-mayweather in all of boxing.

I got a pretty huge spike in traffic in my youtube channel (I keep some Martnez fights on it) after he did that interview. More than double the spike from the Macklin fight.

Also, I really don't think Martinez should be dong that Dancing with the Stars thing. It seems to be boarderline porn sometimes.
