    Boxing: A Fruit Tree

Many of us like boxing, love boxing or eat sleep boxing. I consider Boxing like a fruit tree, in-which it takes many years of love and care before a fruit is developed.

I find it hard to find someone I can personally feel loves boxing at the same level I do, Its the only sport I would ever watch, perhaps only the Superbowl would draw me to watch the final minute only if its close in points. Every time the term boxing comes up it has been littered with Mayweather/Pacquiao and in the 90's all we heard about was Tyson.

Us, the diehard fans are the ones that grow the tree, help develop strong roots, just so one day we can sit and enjoy the fruit we have worked so hard for, we the die hard fan influence the match makers indirectly. But isnt it discouraging when the non-fans influence the matchmakers and enjoy the fruit without having to true help grow the tree?

Its sad but true, there are countless fraudulent fruit us die hard fans never desired, perhaps a list would help:
Pacquiao vs Mosley:Clottey and Mayweather vs Mosley:Marquez

One thing is for use, use die hard fans have gotten the sweetest of fruit, fights the non fans will forever miss , one fruit was Rodriguez vs Wolak I, Juanma Lopez vs Mtagwa, Casamayor vs Katsidis, Bernard Dunne vs Ricardo Cordoba and Antonio DeMarco vs Jorge Linares to name a few

Thank you boxing for hiding your true gems, perhaps the possibility of another Corrales vs Castillo will draw in more die hard fans.

I think it is the superstars that draw them in though especially as kids or teens. Little kids aren't running around on the playground pretending to be Freddie Pendleton, Sam Cassel, or Nathan Blake. They're running around being Pacquiao, Kobe, or Ronaldo. While it is nice to really appreciate boxing as a whole, nobody is just born with a wealth of boxing knowledge. It is something acquired through the love of the sport you mention.

Sure the Pac/May stuff is annoying, but for all the idiots we have spamming "take the test" and photoshopping the Mayweathers onto KFC buckets there are going to be people who really do gain a true appreciation for the sport and all the fighters who compete in it. I think for all the crappy posters who just want to cheerlead for whatever fighter happens to be from the same country or have the same skin color as them, there have been some good solid posters who have emerged. You hint at finding diamonds in the rough in fights most casuals don't watch. I see people wanting to watch every fight on here. Streaming boxing from the Ukraine, Australia, Philippines, Argentina, etc...

It is true that some people just don't want to learn about the sport's history, they became fans because of Manny or Floyd or Roy or Mike and decided they are the best ever and nothing will change their minds. Thankfully not everybody on NSB is that close-minded. Just 99% of them.

I thoroughly enjoyed these two fights! the Wolak rematch was kind of disappointing though.

Not all rematches will produce the content of a Gatti/Ward, for example Corrales vs Castillo 2 drawed in the non fans, why due to all the murmurings of the first fight. In the end they got a nice short fight nothing like the first.
