The only thing Lee and Martinez have in common is their fighting stance. That's it.

Chavez Jr should've been preparing for Martinez years ago. That's like James Toney training MMA for 6 months and thinking he's ready for Couture in MMA.

Chavez Jr fighting Andy Lee, which is a fight he very well could lose, won't change the outcome of him and Martinez a few months later.

That's like me taking college classes in a semester; not studying, then thinking I can pull an all nighter of studying the night before, thinking that will help me pass the test the next day. No, it doesn't work like that.

If Chavez Jr isn't ready now, he won't be ready in a few months.

Martinez has been his mandatory all year. It's time to pay the piper.
Aside from the boxing aspects of it, I think they need another fight to promote the Sergio thing. 2 fights within 5 months for Jr will help this if they decide to put it on PPV....neither is really ready to carry a PPV with no promotion going in. You guys think this would be regular HBO?

Chavez Jr fighting Andy Lee won't make that huge of a difference in anything... Nothing... If Chavez Jr fought Martinez in Sept, the turnout would be the same if he fought Andy Lee this summer or not.

Andy Lee won't make this fight sky rocket on PPV. Like I said, they've been on a collision course for the last two years now. It's time to make it happen.

Chavez Jr says he's ready. Martinez has been ready.

Why even risk a Tyson-Douglass situation when Holyfield was ready and so was Tyson?

Why, for a few more possible PPV sales? No, make it happen.

Right if he isn't ready now, he might never be ready. I said that already.

Anyways, when was the last time he fought a southpaw? And, a southpaw that could move at that?

So what sense does it make to go straight to an elite fighter with no true experience against a southpaw? Why not try to get some experience even though it's limited experience. It's still an experience.

At least with Lee he could use as a tune up. Plus it's a stay busy fight. Martinez more than likely wouldn't have been ready to fight in June. Plus then wanted to make Martinez-Chavez a PPV. Why have 3 PPV's back-to-back. It would hurt the sales.

And, if he losses to Lee. Then he should have never been in the ring with Martinez in the first place, plain and simple. If he can not beat Lee then why would anyone want to see Chavez-Martinez?

And, if Lee wins Martinez would still get his mandatory shot and it would be an in-house fight with Dibella promoting. Since he promotes both fighters.

There is nothing wrong or any issues with this fight. There would be issue if Chavez doesn't fight Martinez afterwards.

Not only that Chavez Jr balloons up in between fights. So why risk having Chavez Jr on the sidelines from February to September/October?

Keeping Chavez jr active, means him being in the gym, which means, maintaining his weight at a level they would work in.

From boxing aspect, business aspect. From Chavez and Lee POV this fight makes sense.

Lee-Chavez Jr is a good fight, yes.

I just don't want to see Lee beat Chavez. I want Martinez to do it. I don't want to see Lee beat Martinez; I want Chavez to do it.

That's just me and I'm sure a lot of fans feel the same way.

Can't argue with your point, but if we are to believe these two are really the best then Jr will dispose of Lee and by the time we do see it, there will be no doubt as to why they should be fighting. I mean, if Lee beats JR then he didn't belong to be there in the first place. (Not saying Lee is the ultimate test or antying lol). I'm a JR believer so just another 5 months till Sergio get his, i can wait

Sounds good. At least there's some positive discussion about fighting the best of their division. But I ain't holding my breath either.

I'll bet 20 Million that Chavez jr moves up to 168 instead of fighting Martinez if he beats Lee.
