A friend in the cable industry (she runs VoD) told me that it substantially outsold Ortiz, but was well short of the 2 million that Schaefer said.
She said that it looks to be about 1.45 to 1.6 million. In that range.
She extrapolated based on the sales for her cable system's (Xfinity) history. But it could be higher or lower if other cable systems were higher of lower (for example, Northeast may be higher buyrate becasue of more Puerto Ricans)
1.5 is probably a pretty good center cut. You can assume 1.4 mill as the LOW side, but it may overperform to 1.7 million
No joke, no BS... believe it or disregard it at your discretion.
It won't reach 2. Even Pac/Mai would probably only do 2, maybe a bit over if they promote right. Boxing just isn't a big enough concern in mainstream sports anymore for a PPV, even with major stars, to reach much above 1.5.
Neither of these guys are Tyson's, Ali's, Leonard's etc. Boxing has well and truly lost those days. I think the top will be 1.6...maybe 7.
