He can still fight and beat most of the top guys at 154. Stay away from pressure fighter tho.

of course he wants him to retire- any more performances like the ones we've seen under Díaz's guidance and it will become increasingly obvious the superiority of Díaz as a trainer over Uncle Cotto.

Of course he should. He just gave a pound for pound great like Floyd Mayweather the toughest fight of his career. I mean, it makes perfect sense to just walk away after a decision loss like that...

What a dumbass. Cotto has never looked better, IMO. He isn't taking nearly the punishment he was earlier in his career, and his offense seems to be far better at this point, given the better footwork.

Cotto can still pull the trigger unlike Shane

It is a few belts he could still win at Jr. middle but how much credit will you get for fighting these guys who shouldn't have belts anyway. K9, Cory Spinks, Saul Alvarez couldn't do anything with him, but there are some that he would have serious problems with such as James Kirkland while it last, Austin Trout, Erislandy Lara to fast and smooth, Alfredo Angulo when he's right; can you say war! So maybe we should just leave it up to the fighter.

I agree. Cotto absorbed a lot of punishment from Mayweather on Saturday night. Sure, for much of the night, he was walking Floyd down but he paid a heavy cost in the process from the counter right hands, left uppercuts and overhand rights Floyd were landing. The only thing that saved him from being KO'd was the weight. On this night, he was much heavier and stronger than he was against either Margarito or Pacquiao when he fought them both at welterweight as opposed to super welterweight when he fought Floyd; Which was why he was able to last the distance.

why would he retire? He didn't look bad.

It was a good performance but cotto is just not a top 3 kind of fighter.

Canelo vs Cotto would be a highly competitive and highly profitable fight.

He should win a belt then retire. He gave his all to the sport and fought everyone worth fighting.

This is the same guy who was too busy chairing undercard fights and didn't check Margarito's gloves for handwraps. The second he failed to do his job and to protect his nephew from a career-changing moment, his opinions lost all credibility.
