Yes I did watch It and Roy was winning he even droped montel in the seventh round ,and landed so many hard straight rights to the head that its a miracle montel made it as far as he did .

Your logic reminds me of those who say marquez dominated Pac in the 3 fight because Pac was suppose to knock him out in three but the fight was semi close.

And why do you keep mentioning that he was down on one score card, that seem kinda ****** when he was up on the two other cards which means he was winning the fight.

You keep on bluntly ignoring the fact that Roy demolished montel in one round in there second fight why is that? because then you whole point is lost.

Lest play theory, lest say the fight was close

Floyd had a ten times tougher fight with Castillo in there first fight ,and in the second fight floyd won a hard fought 12 round decision, we all agree that floyd is the superior boxer right ?

If Floyd had knocked out Castillo in the first round in there second fight no one would ever be arguing whether Castillo had floyds number.

Roy dropped Griffin in the 7th, and yet he came back and won the 8th round, so you don't know what would have happened. It doesn't matter what happened in the rematch, it doesn't change what happened in the first fight, and that was Roy Jones getting outboxed in his prime. It's a shame he was reluctant to face the better fighters out there (after the Toney fight), we would have seen more how good Roy really was.

He had to stop juicing to move back down to LHW

Good point, the first time in his career that Jones was tested, he was caught with 6 times the legal limit of testosterone in his system, and tested positive for an anabolic steroid. We don't know what he used, however people do note that he started to decline around this time. It's interesting to note that Roy Jones' record is 13-7 since he was caught using anabolic steroids.

LHW is the most dangerous weight class IMHO. These guys are always in shape as the weight is average for a man. There's nothing to do but work on strength. Not too much making weight and all that crap.

Roy should have never went up to LHW. But I'm proud of him for doing it.

when i look at the career of roy jones, jr., wins, i think his most legit fights were against:

                castro
                toney
                hopkins (1st fight)
                griffin (both fights)
                hill
                tarver
                r. johnson
                harding

i thought, roy jones jr. faced pretty good to equal competition in these fights, but i thought roy jones, jr., for the most part, was able to figure out his competition's style early in the fight, and take his opponent out of the fight early on...of course, montell griffin in the first fight, and antonio tarver, proved to be roy jones' nemesis, but i also thought, that eric harding, gave roy jones problems as well...most of roy jones', campbell soup mad weak fights, were against ranked fighters in the 175 lb. division, but i felt, that roy jones jr, could have dug a little deeper for a better opponent, than some of the mad funny, sideshow fights, that turned a lot of hardcore fans off, like the one that was staged, in radio city music hall, complete with the rockettes...

The poor fights he was making against overmatched opposition is what turned me off Roy Jones at the time. He was knocking out bums left right and centre and proclaiming himself P4P number 1, really annoyed me. The likes of Steve Collins, Nigel Benn, Michael Nunn, G-Man were all desperate to fight Roy, and he acted like he'd never heard of them

It's funny your screen name is of someone who has a similar fight style Roy Jones Jr fight style, lol. If you look at the fight predictions from Boxingscenes.com for Williams vs Martinez 2 you will see RJJ picked Martinez to win. Mostly all the others boxers were going with Williams. I'm a big fan of Sergio! he's my favourite fighter today. Indeed, I'm sure Sergio took parts of his style from Roy Jones himself. Roy Jones is a great boxing analyst, I enjoy watching and listening to him on HBO, it's a shame he's not on more regularly.

As I said, I was a big fan of Roy Jones back in the day, but the fights he was making against the likes of Frazier, Kelly and so on really turned me off. It's hard to gauge how good Roy was, because although he smashed James Toney, Toney was drained. I would have liked to see Roy fight DM, Roy would have won that fight, but he was too afraid to risk it and test himself.
