Of course Mayweather's age is catching up with him. There's a reason he always mentions "health comes first", plus the fact he doesn't want to fight Pacquiao.

I don't think it was a case of underestimating Cotto I just don't think he expected the strength. I don't think anyone did.

I expected Mayweather to be as strong or stronger. But he really wasn't.

You could see straight away that Cotto was so much stronger than him. He outright man handled him at times.

And yeah that's another thing, although his reflexes are on the decline he does has very solid skills and fundamentals to fall back on, and a sharp mental.

On the other hand, at certain points in the fight his reflexes still looked very sharp, especially with the pull counter. His foot movement also came out at times.

Why Mayweather had a tougher time with Cotto than many expected…

...because many people don't give the credit Cotto deserve... simple!

Well then he underestimated Cotto's strength lol.

BTW, agree on the pull counter. Can't help but think that he can no longer pull that off as often because everyone's got a beat on it now. Like Roy's check hook. Worked like a dream until a certain lanky southpaw countered it with a shorter, more accurate one.

Yeah that's what I meant, of course.

I just meant I think he knew what he brought to the table as a fighter.

Then again, I think Cotto's timing surprised him too.

            Yeah, someone will.

Perhaps Martinez, if they were to fight.

Fighters don't stay in their prime forever. Tarver fans thinks that by Tarver snorting coke early in his career, then getting off of the coke, and beating a past it Jones will make him greater than Jones. Won't happen.

I really think Martinez is a bad match for May,and would be the only fighter right now I would pick to beat him..

Floyds prime is gone. At this point in Floyds career winning by any means is all that matters. Cottos effort is being a bit overrated to the point that he won or drew, and Cotto clearly lost. I expected nothing less from Cotto. Great effort, but Floyds will to win is unmatched.

Martinez could grow old overnight too but as it stands right now, I think he gives Mayweather the business. Taller, stronger, crafty and dynamite in both fists. Used to fighting bigger men. I think that's too much.

Floyd adjusts, just adjust with him. Hit him with the jab while you can, then he will duck down to his left to avoid it, so feint the jab and throw a right uppercut into Floyd's chin as he ducks. Move to your right, toss the jab and hit him with a right to his left oblique as he shoulder rolls the jab.

Just pay attention to how he fights, everyone can be figured out.
