So why did he say he'd take the lesser share?

Why, so you can cry about about how Mayweather forced Martinez to drop down in order to get a beating?

Sure; Why do UK fighters blow?
Cotto wasn't the biggest and best fight in 2005. Cotto was the best fight in 08 after he had beaten Judah and Mosley thus proving himself as the best available opponent at 147 (along with Williams who Floyd also didnt fight for whatever reason). Its not hard to understand. Key word again - TIMING.

Margarito was the best opponent at 147 in 06. And Floyd was offered good money to fight him which he rejected and then faced Baldomir for a dollar more or whatever it was. So you can't say he was fighting some mega fight instead. He fought a much easier fight for the same amount of money.

Pacquiao did not say he'd take the lesser share. He said he'd take the lesser guarantee. Which is still the case. The split is 50/50.

Martinez-Floyd at 154 is a dream fight for me. Even better than the Pac fight.

I dont beleive Arum had any chance to make or stop the fight because Mayweather "retired" and made it clear he had no interest in the fight.

Bull****. In 2008 Floyd was setting up a rematch with Oscar De La Hoya. When it was clear Oscar would sill make the lionshare of the purse even though he lost he first fight Floyd decided to retire. The only big fights he could get were from Top Rank. Bob Arum has openly stated that he hates Floyd and that Floyd hates him so of course there is no way those two are negotiating a fight. Let Manny leave Top Rank and watch how quickly he'll end up with another L on his record!

Oh, so it's Mayweather's fault that Cotto passed on the opportunity to fight him in 2005? How come Cotto never pressed for the Mayweather fight? So what was the biggest and best fight for Mayweather in '05?

Mayweather was ducking Baldomir. DLH > Margs. In your theory, Margs fight wasn't a big fight in '06.

Already gone over this w/ you... guy said he'd take the lesser share. Flat fee includes his guarantee and piece of the backend aka not 50/50, Still hasn't even signed on the dotted line for testing.

Good for your dream fight... but stop avoiding the question, why do UK fighters blow?

i'm not sure about that because arum was already trying to make a margarito cotto fight happen for about a year and a half and didn't happen sooner because margarito lost to williams so after miguel beat shane what makes you think arum would want to make a floyd-cotto fight instead of a cotto margarito fight that he was already trying to build up

Well I believe he was and that was the general consensus. Who was a better opponent?

I might want to get a toilet break in before I read your answer in fear of pissing myself.

A rematch no one wanted to see. Instead of the Cotto fight which everyone wanted to see and he said he had no interest in.
