I think Taylor should target Winky and get out of 160.
Winky Wright is 5'10 1/2 actually, the height disparity is not that great and should have no bearing on the fight. Its a bad style matchup for Taylor, he would be pressuring Wright, but Winky would weather the assualt and counter with his jab and his straight left. Winky's timing is just awesome and he is at his peak WRIGHT now.(Sorry I know that was a bad pun)

You also have to account for defense. Winky Wright has one of the best defenses in the game today. Taylor has alot of holes in his defense which against Wright isn't a good thing.

No, no, I fully understand that age plays a major role in an athletes' ability. My point is, Hopkins knows he's old, he's said this numerous times already. The fighters you mentioned knew they were up there in age, yet they stepped in the ring anyway and were beaten. Is Hopkins the same fighter as he was years ago? Of course not. Does he know this? Pretty sure he does. Did he step in the ring with Taylor? Yeah. It's his own fault, he can't blame his age. Age didn't make him step in that ring. If age was that much of an issue, he should have hung em up after he beat Howard Eastman. The only thing to blame here is Hopkins inability to realize that the fight plan he used in the first fight wasn't gonna work. Hopkins is the only one to blame here, age is an excuse, he didn't have to fight Taylor but he did. Only one to blame is Bernard. And as a matter of fact, why do the fans have to come out and make all sorts of excuses for a certain fighter? Hopkins hasn't blamed his age yet (not to my knowledge, at least) so why are the fans? Who knows Hopkins body and ability better than Hopkins?

              You're wrong. Winky is 5'7'' and a half 5'8'' if he's lucky.

Taylor has youth on his side, and has a definite physical edge. He will overpower Wright because of the height/reach and of course the power. I'm not impressed with Winky as he hasn't shown to be able to fight a true middleweight. It's in Taylor's best interest to move up to 168 as this weight-draining is just dampening his career.

Wright outclassed Vargas, but Vargas has spent most of his career at 154. I want to see how Wright handles a big body like Soliman before I jump to any conclusions.

He has fought alot more fighters than Trinidad and has fought them all the same way. If Taylor thinks Hopkins is hard to hit flush then he will be very frustrated against Winky. Taylor will be more vunerable to a jab than Winky will.

Trinidad was an offensive powerhouse and the fact that Winky shut him out is a testament to Wrights ability. Is Jermain technically superior to Tito, yeah probably but he does he have the ability to outbox a guy like Winky? I personally don't believe so.

And like mic573 Winky has beaten fighters with all types of styles, Jermain is a good young fighter but he can't beat Wright.

                    like I said.....it was Trinidad.

it really convince you that he'll do the same to Jermain Taylor. AND THAT'S PRETTY SOOPID.

Jermain can outbox Winky with his athleticism and his reach.

I'm not sure if you know, but HBO usually adds up a couple inches to some fighters to add an edge to the tale of the tape.

For example, they said Samuel Peter was 6'2'' but He isn't an inch above 6'0''.
