It is very clear that Miguel Cotto is not making any excuses. Everybody can feel how Miguel Cotto feels. Those people who watched the fight are all saying that there was a lot of discrepancies in the score cards.

For the defending champion to be nearly shut out after pressing the fight, constantly working the body, and blocking many of those cuffing right hands, must have been a serious blow to his pride. I know Floyd won....I just thought it was closer......no need for Floyd fans to hate on me. Floyd is the best P4P in the game and he proved it.
No hate brother. Just calling the fight how I saw it. I respect Cotto so no way was or am trying to take away from the heart and skill he showed in the fight but 3 rounds were just about right from my view. Cotto like Stewart said was missing a lot of punches on the ropes as well. Floyd was getting out of the way and countering. Floyd may have been in a tough fight and got bloodied but he still is a very skillful fighter. I think technically Floyd is the best but I just feel that Sergio Martinez can beat him at 154.

The scores can be wide, even when the fight was close. This seemed to be the case. I think Floyd's praise should matter more to him than some outsiders' opinions.
What the hell are you talking about? You replied to my post just to make no sense at all.

I'm sure he watched the fight and saw the 2 rounds he won and had to retract his statement.
Why else would he not give HBO an interview and allow his team to say ****?
Yup he was clearly pissed off about losing the fight. I don't think he would allow people to post something on his official twitter that he didn't agree with. He probably rewatched the fight and saw the reaction from a lot of people including puerto ricans who feel the comments were in bad form so he retracted them.

And not to hate on him but he did use the plaster excuse for his loss to Margarito. Even has pictures of the handwraps on his ipad.

I feel Cotto didn't do the post fight interview because he was ashamed he had failed. He promised puerto rico he would be champion and he was soooo determined to beat Floyd. But he came up short not from lack of will, but lack of skillset. Miguel gave everything he had. From all that will and preparation morphing into disappointment I'm sure the last thing Miguel needed was merchant with his condescending barbing questions. I think the scores was only a small part of it and I don't really fault Miguel for walking. He just had so much of his heart in this.

Sounds like Cotto is trying to show his class and not make a fuss even though in his heart he really believes he was done wrong by those scores

Classy guy through and through Miguel Cotto, its disappointing he didnt hang for the interview afterwards. My feeling is he was genuinely outraged and rather than say something nasty, bitter or negative he just said nothing at all. Basically he took the "If u aint got nothing nice to say then dont say nothing!" route.....

                      I don't think 9-3 is a terrible score.

But we don't know what it's like to be in the ring...he probably felt he was scoring points by hitting Floyd's arms and just generally pressing the action. A fighters' perception of how a fights going while he's in the ring can differ from what we see on TV.

He put in a ton of work and fought very competitively in many of the rounds so you can see where he maybe thought he won more rounds in the heat of the moment.
