I remember watching the first Corrales/Castillo fight live on Showtime myself. I honestly couldn't ****in' believe what I was seeing, I was awe struck.

Then 2 years to the day later and he's gone. I remember watching the "Friday Night Fights" tribute to him as they rang the bell 10 times in his honor in complete disbelief.

While nowhere near as much of a "big deal" as the Castillo fight (for obvious reasons), I also vividly remember watching the Freitas fight. The build up for that fight had me really hyped and I was pulling for Chico from the opening bell. He absolutely ****d Acelino.

Love that fight. The Castillo 1 fight tends to side-track everything else but there are some real gems in the Diego fightography. Freitas, Casa, Garcia, Manfreddy....

And it wasn't just the fights. It was the way he fought. With so much heart and guts. It was really something.

Salute to a true warrior and HOF'er IMO. None like him today.

Agreed. Corrales had a very entertaining career and I always end up recommending fights from his history whenever I'm trying to convert someone to follow the sport. With the obvious first ballot choice being Corrales/Castillo I.

The Casamayor fights were epic, as well. And his early career fights are just one gigantic vicious knockout highlight reel. Dude could ****.
