I agree, a win-win situation, Canelo gets some good experience from a seasoned pro, and Cotto gets another title. Canelo has improved. I see a good fight.

Why? Why should Cotto put on an inspired performance against Floyd and then have to fight someone who hasn't proven himself yet? Although I guess I can understand one of the points made above: it may be a good way to add another win for Cotto that keeps him motivated and in the game.

I'm fairly sure Golden Boy wouldn't even make that fight though. Cotto just lost to Floyd, and they eventually want Canelo in there with Floyd. If Cotto beats Canelo (I'm fairly certain that's what would happen), that'll make his chances at Floyd slimmer and/or farther away. And who knows how long Floyd will keep fighting.

Cotto would **** Canelo up much worse than Floyd would. I could see GBP going for Floyd instead.
