Even Quillin knew he wasn't ready for Sergio yet, he wants to continue building his name and resume. Pirog, on the other hand, hasn't fought a legitimate contender yet and he wants a shot at the throne?

I do not consider Pirog to be better than Macklin, and why should I? At least Mack fought two veterans in Sturm and Martinez. Pirog has only had one good win against another contender. If Pirog had stopped Ishida, I would've warmed up a little to the idea. But he couldn't even do that. He should come to the U.S. and defend his title against Punisher or Jermain Taylor if he wants to build his name/resume.

That's great, are you JT's or PW's manager? You offering him a SHO date? Please show me one offer to fight on SHO/HBO he turned down.

Having seen the show this week, does anyone still find it plausible his purse is $1mil? It's a joke, you realize Ishida is one of the few "name" opponents willing to go there for the money they are likely paying. Only guys that cannot get on premium cable undercards would take that.

If someone is ****** enough to pay Martinez 3 million to come over to Russia, someone is ****** enough to pay Pirog 1 million dollars per fight. If Berto could somehow manage the get 1 million dollar paydays while only being able to draw less than 500 people to see him, so could Pirog especially because he's the only Russian world title holder.

Pirog also pretty much said he's ready retire because he's already financially secured.
I have never put any accent on earning money in boxing. I don't need it that bad as I have some.
How could he possibly already be financially secured with only 20 fights unless he's been getting paid big lately.

He's a burgeoning promoter, he probably thinks he's set there. Where do you think this purse money is coming from? The "government"? Why hasn't anyone backed up these figures? There's a poster on ESB called Zacker who's a lot more authoritative than Montoya on that scene, and he laughed at those figures.

I was wrong about the government thing. I asked Dibella. He said he was just joking.

Why is a random ESB poster more authoritative than Montoya. Who is he?

I've heard of a lot weirder purses than this. Campillo for example was paid 400k to fight Shumenov in Kazakhstan. Where did that money come from? Who knows what weird business dealings they're up to.

Just a guy who's more familiar with the Russian scene than Montoya. I could be wrong, you'd think some of the local reporters would have backed up Montoya's inside info by now. It's kind of a scoop, hell Canelo is barely making more against Mosley.

What do you know, the NJikam fight got rescheduled for France, I guess Equatorial Guinea was all booked!

Nope, none of that. Just a fan who can plainly see that Pirog's career has gone, and will continue to go, absolutely nowhere because of politics. WBO has guys like Taylor and Martin Murray ranked #3 and #5 respectively. Why not make whatever sacrifices are necessary to fight them? Having a Taylor on his record will help make him marketable, or Murray who had a draw with Sturm...or a guy like P.Will who is a name in the division. Pirog states that the other titlists aren't accepting his challenge, what about Golovkin then? However much I b.itch about Sturm not fighting outside of Germany, at least he's fighting guys of a higher caliber than Pirog is. Sure, it's probably not even his fault either, but since no-one is giving in, then none of the big fights will happen. Every fighter is on their side of the Earth and are not willing to give up whatever advantage they may have.

Fighting Ishida (ranked #11) was probably the only move he could make. He fought him and he beat him, but it wasn't an earth-shattering performance that you'd want from a champion. He can't be marketed because he hasn't fought a top name cuz nobody is giving him a chance, and he hasn't looked dominant against the guys he's fighting. He's too inactive, he rarely fights outside of his country, he's 31 so he's also fighting against time, etc. In other words, WHAT THE F.U.C.K.?? lol. If he can't get a career-changing fight by the end of next year, then he might as well retire.

This Geale fight seems likely, you can't complain about that. He's been trying to make that one since new years, and in the mean time challenged Sturm before Zbik was picked. Also, apparently Barker was offered this fight before Ishida, passed with injury. Murray would be fine, JT? You think DiBella would do that to him, when he can fight (and get kded hard by) scrubs on Shobox? You think PWill will travel to Russia, for real? All these guys have guaranteed dates on premium cable, they only have to make an offer.

I wasn't that impressed with him against Ishida, his lack of athleticism stood out more than against Jacobs, strangely. But honestly GG looks even worse until he knocks them out.
