Interesting to See Mayweather Diss Catchweights, Yet...

He says a Martinez fight would be at a catchweight. I doubt they actually fight, but doesn't it seem very contradictory of Floyd being he's so against catchweights to even mention it?

    Thoughts?

Did he mean between 154-160 or 147-154?

I think his argument is that he wants his opponents to be comfortable. Sergio can be effective at 156-158.

He didn't mention an actual weight class, but based on his argument about catchweights, he states "You go to that fighter's weight and beat him at his weight where he's comfortable".

I'm not trying to throw darts at Floyd, but at the same time it seems very contradictory, especially since he's poking at Pacquiao's recent catchweight fights to put himself over.

Say he fought Martinez at a catchweight and won, wouldn't that fall in line with what Pacquiao did as well?

I don't know. De La Hoya at 147 and Cotto at 145 is different than Martinez at 156-158. I mean can Floyd even be effective at 160?

Now if he drains Sergio to 150 I'd agree with you.

He also had said pacquiao fights leftovers. Nothing new on mayweather telling things and then contradict himself with it. I doubt if he goes up to 160 and fight sergio. If mayweather ever have to martines in the future, he prolly ask for 154 pounds and tell the fans martines is comfortable with it.

He said he would fight Martinez at 150, don't think he ever refused to fight him at 154, unless something new came out and I missed it...

It was a question asked to him about Martinez coming down to 150 and he said yes he would consider fighting him at that weight. He was just answering the question.

Lets keep it real though, he's not going to fight Sergio at 150. IDK why people keep talking about that. I think he just wants 1 or most likely 2 fights at 154 to get comfortable and then he would consider it. It will atleast be at 154

De La Hoya was definitely drained, no denying that. In relation to Cotto though, he weighed in at 146 the fight prior against Clottey. Cotto himself has never gone on record to say he was drained against Pacquiao, and based on the weigh in pics I'd say he's telling the truth.

Meanwhile, Cotto vs Malignaggi weigh in showed a drained Cotto

I guess my thing is, if you're going to mentioning anything about dissing catchweights, even a 157-158 catchweight is a catchweight, and in relation to dissing Pacquiao say against Cotto, one can't assume the same arguments would be made against Floyd if he were to fight and beat Martinez. Basically, call a spade a spade.
