From the very few 168 pound fights there has been on HBO, there doesn't seem to be THAT huge of a size discrepancy between super middleweights and light heavyweights.



Most light heavyweight unofficial weights tend to be around 185 pounds. Seems doable in a catchweight.

Catch weight of 172

Their fight night weights are already within a few pounds of each other. For the love of god just fight at 175 and be done with it. When there were only 8 weight classes people used to move between 160 and 175, from 135 to 147 ect. Now days they cant even move the 4-7 pounds between the super and jr weight classes and have to catchweight everything over 2 or 3 pounds. Its ****ing ridiculous.

this is similar to hopkins steering clear of dawson some time back, but when pascal called him out, hopkins decided he was ready to fight. of course the dawon fight has happened for hopkins now, and we can see why he wanted to avoid it back then- a bad style match-up

for ward, bute is a real threat. a devastating puncher who can do it in close- just look at the kos by body shot, bute has an awkward sytle can fights with a lot of confidence. chad dawson doesn't really have power, can't fight in the inside, and seems to be weak mentally.

i'm sure americans will get behind this fight and at least it is two titleholders in their prime.

Bute is garbage and his wins over a bunch of canadian cab drivers are meaningless.

Ward and Dawson would be a great fight. It would be just like yesterday's fight. Admittedly I believe Dawson would need to fight a perfect fight if he's going to fight ward. Ward is a spitting image of a younger version of Hopkins.

1. Bute is fighting next month so a Ward/Bute fight could only happen in 5-6 months at the very least and Ward would have a 10 months layoff so of course he needs to fight somebody before that.

2.Dawson is a much more proven fighter than Bute, he's bigger and more fundamentally sound and he just beat a bonafied ATG. Fuck outta here with your "he's ducking Bute" BS!

ward is a lot like hopkins you don't know ****. hopkins was his mentor. he lunges in and then clinches and headbuts just like hopkins does. except he throws a lot more left hooks than hopkins. he is just a younger and more athletic version and will be next to impossible to defeat even though he is pretty boring and should take more risk to finish fights
