Smart enough to properly make the quote function work. Rankings on Boxrec are done by a mathimatical formula and should be taken with a grain of salt.
i wonder what kind of mathmatical formula could possibly have charles at the top hw though. he had three big wins, against louis, walcott and walcott
rocky beat the **** out of him and jersey joe ko'd him and then ud'd him in their last two meetings
this ranking is such bull**** its not even funny

PBF34, I already explained how their all-time divisional rankings work earlier in the thread...It's a P4P ranking and what Charles did at MW & LH was considered into the equation.

ok, just read it and it makes sense
but
why did the rankings change?
just the other day ali was number one
obviously nothing happened, so whats the deal?
thats my big prob with the system

The rankings probably changed because they found some more fights of some of Charles' opponents, which would then bump Charles up a little bit...That would be my best guess, as they are continuously adding to their database of old-time fights on a daily basis and yet still have a long, long way to go.
I saw that clip of him being KTFO by Marciano, but I didn't see any of his winning efforts.
****, then I wished I could upload some Charles fights for you to show you how great/talented he was, but unfortunately what I have of him is only on tape.
And it may be of interest for some to know that the former associate editor of The Ring & well respected boxing historian, Lew Eskin, once rated Ezzard Charles as the very best fighter to have fought in the 40's & 50's era...Yes, it was Eskin's opinion that Charles was even greater than one, Sugar Ray Robinson.
In terms of P4P greatness I'd definately have Ezzard Charles inside my all-time top ten, which is more than what I can say for Muhammad Ali or Joe Louis (one or both might make it inside there, but they'd be behind Charles if they did).
