fighting Nathan Cleverly in Wales would have done very good money, more money than Dawson. Fighting Cloud would have been about the same as fighting Dawson as HBO & Showtime would pay for those fights (Hopkins always has very good ratings on regular HBO/Showtime). Don't act like this was his only fight, which I remind you, doesn't have much public interest.

So why didnt he do that?

Come on man, Dawson isn't a guy that makes you fear for your health, not even a guy as old as Hopkins.

Hopkins is finally to old to beat someone like Dawson. And look at him, he looked much better in the Pascal-fights, there is no definition anymore on him.
Hes an old man and it shows. It would really suprise me if Hokins wins this. im sure it will be a boring, dirty fight though. Against Dawon he can only be boring and dirty, he cant do to him what he did with Pascal in the rematch and actually fight and beat him up.
I care much more about the Mitchell vs. Witherspoon fight, thats the fight on this Card i want to see!

Both Hopkins & Schaefer have expressed interest in fighting Cleverly in Wales. Additionally Hopkins offered to rematch Calzaghe in Wales so your theory about him not fighting overseas is incorrect.
