He landed plenty of clean shots and why did he have to take Rios out? He was winning convincingly. There's judges out there with the same state of mind as you and that's when fighters like Campillo and Abril get robbed. Cause they have no power and can't take their opponents out even when they are winning decisively.

Nothing says you have to hurt a fighter in order to beat him. Rios appeared unscathed after the fight (so did Abril), but he lost the fight by a wide margin. Moving forward does not qualify as aggression in boxing. The key term is effective aggression.I think Abril won, but not convincingly. If schooling means only making your opponent ineffective, then sure. To me, Abril still had to land clean and hurt Rios. The last four rounds both fighters were smothering each others punches. So giving those rounds to the aggressor that's willing to make the fight is not a problem for me.
Believe me, bro, those judges know what they're doing. They're not some casual fans. That decision was predetermined. What makes me laugh is how these crooks always take the same approach: "Split decision." As if to say the fight was so close that the judges couldn't agree. Gimme a fucking break. He landed plenty of clean shots and why did he have to take Rios out? He was winning convincingly. The sad thing for Abril is that he has no power, so he might always be on the short end of a "split decision."Comment

Lol u can't compare Floyd with Abril, what a joke. Abril doesn't make u pay, he's happy catching punches inside his shell, for 2min straight per round. Floyd at least lands some beautiful shots that make you go "damn".When Mayweather fights, people admire him for his style and great defense. But when a nobody does it, its not boxing?? Did i miss something here? Abril won 10 rounds and lost 2 (resting). Rios landed 10 jabs the whole 12 rounds and missed 99.9% of his power punches. Abril was accurate the whole fight!! He didn't waste punches thats why it was a boring fight but everytime he threw punches he landed more than 50%!!

My enjoyment of the fight was admittedly influenced by the fact that I was rooting for a countryman. Nonetheless, I thought Richie put on the proverbial clinic. Nearly everything was on display: combination punching, frustrating defense, ring generalship, etc. Abril's approach might be a little ugly, but he fought beautifully.
I agree that Richard's style and abilities are tailor-made for Rios. Brandon is the kind of guy that likes to accept challenges, but he's been pretty quiet about rematching Abril so far. Despite his words immediately after the fight, Rios has got to know he was taken to school. He's probably watched the fight on TV by now. I'll be impressed if he wants any part of Abril again.Comment

There's no doubt that Mayweather is on a different level than Abril. In fact, Floyd is better than fighters who are better than Richard. But there are some similarities in style and approach. I think it's a valid comparison.Comment

Yea I bet they did. I guess I was just trying to make a point but you said it better than me, you don't have to hurt your opponent to beat him convincingly. It seems that's what you have to do tho, when you're the "nobody"fighting the "star" you better be ready to hurt him or you will get fked. You have to rely on a tool you do not possess, power, to save yourself from a screwage.Nothing says you have to hurt a fighter in order to beat him.
