Tyson wanted to help train Pacquiao and even told Freddie that he wouldn't intrude, But Freddie is an attention whore, and he didn't want Tyson to take away his shine from 24/7.

Roach is such an ego maniac he knew if Tyson was brought in for the Cotto fight which I think it was for because Moorer was already in camp for the Hatton fight, that all the shine would be on Tyson and Pacquiao and not him.

If Roach was unselfish and a true pal he would have told Tyson yes he would let him give him a shot to try and be a trainer which is what Tyson wanted to learn. Tyson said he wanted to help train even some of the up and comers, but Roach refused.

Imagine if Tyson was on 24/7 with PAcquiao? Manny Pacquiao being trained by Tyson, arguably the two most ferocious fighters in their respective division would be insane. The ratings would destroy any 24/7 ratings, and Pacquiao would be even more famous and loved being associated with Tyson.

Roach would be left out of the mix, and Roach wants all the attention and glory now. I think it was ****** for Roach to deny Tyson.

Anyway the more I look at Freddie Roach's fighters is the more I realise that they cannot box on the inside. Someone like Mike would be able to offer them invaluable advice in that department.
      Tyson had good inside game
but not sure how he'd function as a trainer/advisor
has he played that role with any other fighters?
haven't heard of him assisting in any camps before

I always thought they should have kept Michael Moorer for Pac. He was a fellow southpaw with good skills and an understanding what goes in between the ropes.

I felt the same. Moorer was actually making adjustments he was adjusting Pacman while Pac hit the mitts with Roach, Roach just does mittwork and Moorer was able to find the small things and fix them.

Roach got mad cause people were giving Moorer all the credit for that Hatton fight, becaue it was Moorer who was telling Manny that Hatton was a sucker for the right hook.

Roach also knows he cant handle all those fighters, yet he denies Tyson a chance to help him. What an ass, talk about being a greedy dude. Roach doesnt realize his other fighters suffere because of his greedy ass ego mania, bringing in a guy like Tyson would have helped the other guys in the gym, Roach must have forgot that Eddie Futch gave him the chance to train fighters and take the load of his shoulders.

Hell yea they should have. I mean just look at Pacquiao, he can't move he can't cut off the ring he can't put pressure, he fights geriatrics and he got beat up by a 38 year old lightweight. I bet you a million dollars Tyson would never have been beaten up by a 38 year old lightweight.

I don't care who you are unless your name is Bernard Hopkins .. if you are 36 you are half way shot already

Mike lost against every elite fighter he ever faced

(the old Larry Holmes that was using a wheelchair is not considered elite)

I don't think Tyson would have the patience to train anyone. We'd have a lot more earless fighters walking around.

At this point Manny is what he is at 33 and 59 pro fights, I cant see anyone turning Manny into a good inside fighter you cant teach an old dog new tricks Manny is great at what he does every fighter has weaknesses and at this point its far to late to try and iron them out.
