Yes, Cotto turned down the 8oz gloves and it makes perfect sense.

      1. Cotto is used to fighting with 10oz gloves and he carried his power to 154.
      2. It protects Cotto's face a lot more.
      3. It diminishes Floyd's power to the point Cotto can pressure without being worried about the fire coming back.

I doubt it. Cotto always goes with what will enhance his power.

        It was likely the commission.

I saw an interview were Cotto says one of the advantages is that the gloves are bigger. I will look for it now.

All I have to say is look how fast he was in those heavyweight 10 oz. gloves. He was wicked fast against Hatton with 10 oz gloves. Miguel Cotto will have to be concerned about the fire coming back. I just saw that training session and he's going to be ready for the glove size.

Doesn't matter what the glove size is because cotto has no defense. He knows he can take more punishment with 10oz gloves. Cotto couldnt even press clottey pacquiao or or margarito.

What happened to the hard-and-fast rule that all fights about 147 must be with 10 oz gloves. These objections are only irritating smokescreens that some boxers feel in need of.

Cotto's not ******. Seems like Mayweather means serious business and wants to do some damage. Probably wants to beat him worse than Manny did.
